hey - Stay With Me is a Faces number!
okay so at the time i never grasped why some of the albums were labelled Rod Stewart albums
and others were Faces albums - but i do now. :E

Faces were a pretty democratic band (songwriting & vocals) on record, when you remember what a superstar Rod was. I love 'Only A Hobo', 'Jo's Lament', 'You're My Girl' (another really funky Faces song), and most all of the Mercury stuff...

Every Rod Stewart album from 1969 to 1974 tells a story. The later ones... eh, there seems to be a dull moment or two.

You Wear It Well is perhaps my favourite non-Stones rock tune . . .

>> when you remember what a superstar Rod was <<

well he wasn't always a superstar, and the Faces were integral to the albums that got him started in that direction -
not really bitching - just observing. but any way you slice it, Stay With Me is a Faces number

i'm actually boycotting rod the mod these days; i have some personal info. on the man (i'm a friend of don kirkpatrick, his touring guitarist) -- let's just say he's a greedy and ungrateful SOB.

hot damn the bastard can sing, though!

"Country Comfort"
(Bernie Taupin, Elton John)
Soon the pines will be falling everywhere
Village children always fighting for fair share
And the six-o-nine goes roarin' down the creek
As Parson Lee prepares his service for next week
I saw grandma yesterday down at the store
Well she's really lookin' fine for eighty-four
And she asked me if some time I'd fix the barn
Poor old girl, she needs a man down on the farm
Chorus:
And it's good old country comforts in my bones
Just the sweetest sound my ears have ever known
Just an old fashioned feeling in my bones
Country comforts and the road that's going home

Down at the mill they've got a new machine
Foreman says it cuts manpower by fifteen
"Oh, but that ain't natural" old man Grayson says
'cause he's a horse-drawn man until his dying days
(Chorus)

Could you please give some more info on this, Nikki ? If not precise, than maybe a word on what the issue is about ? Song-writing credits ? Women ?

Rod Stewart is...together with Elvis and Chuck Berry, one of the guys I respect because of music only - their opinion or personal life is not very important..

well, without getting into the all-too-personal details, don kirkpatrick is very sick and rod stewart (a millionare a hundred times over) is doing NOTHING for him. don has been forced to apply for medicaid and various grants in order to get the essential procedures to literally save his life.

meanwhile, rod "this old heart(less)" stewart honeymoons on the french riviera . . .

quite frankly, it's sickening.

my rod stewart t shirt is on an indefinite hiatus.

At the tail end of the Faces' run, they released a tasty single called "You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything." It sounded as much like a solo Rod song than Faces, but I wore that single out.

Every Picture Tells a Story and Never a Dull Moment are great solo albums by Rod, and quasi-Faces albums, in a way.

Ooh La La and Glad and Sorry are two great Faces songs, but there are many more where those came from.

Ooh La La I have always liked, especially after seeing it in the movie Rushmore.

oh yeah, gotta love those painfully (dis)honest lyrics;

"never been a millionaire, and i'll tell ya mama, i don't care"

reminds me of mick singing about how he's working "so hard at the factory" in luxury . . .

i've always been sort of partial to the album A Nod is as Good as a Wink to a Blind Horse ... used to play it constantly, esp. Had Me a Real Good Time and You're So RUDE :-)

not to mention Rod's amazing Every Picture Tells a Story album...esp. the title song !

One still get the feeling he meant it back then.

Hmm, I did it the setlist way. Took me two glass of red just to decide on "handbags" before "reason".
