Here are more great clips whilst I'm in the mood for Rod and the Faeces - er, I mean Faces...

Miss Judy's Farm

Stay With Me

I know I'm Loosing You

Sweet Little Rock n Roller (with Keith)

Now if only they could muster up the guitar tone from that last clip live nowadays... Here's hoping that Keith re-discovers Ampegs!

No-one could see this clips and say that Ronnie's a crap guitarist.

True Blue from Never a Dull Moment...one of my favorite non-Stones LP's way back in the early 70's

here's a fairly decent video of it live:

"Mahoney's Last Stand" the soundtrack by Wood & Lane (w/ Mac, Kenny, Ian Stewart, Bobby Keys, etc) is a very enjoyable 'quasi-Faces' album too, with about half excellent instrumentals & half songs w/ Lane or Wood singing - I love Ron's "Mona" The Blues' and 'Just For A Moment', which should have been a Faces classic.

Wow, this thread has had staying power, eh? I'm happy to see so much appreciation for Faces and Rod's solo work.

A few weeks ago, I went to the Museum of Television & Radio in Los Angeles (OK, technically it's in Bevery Hills) and watched an old Midnight Special featuring Faces and Keith playing guitar on several songs. The performance was good, but it was the post-Ronnie Lane lineup and Faces had evolved into a band that was dominated by Rod's personality. Rod was dressed in a shiny yellow outfit and was really hamming it up. The camera kept zooming in on Rod's butt.

I'd love to see a Faces performance with Rod's ego turned down a few notches.

I know that there is a DVD out there of Faces in concert. Maybe it's the same performance I watched. Think it was from 1975. It included an interview segment with Wolfman Jack and Rod.

During the show, I found myself developing a little crush on Ian MacLagan. Maybe that was a reaction to the camera forcing Rod's butt into my face.

There is a Museum of Television & Radio in New York, too. It's a fun way to catch up on televised music performances. On the same visit, I watched a couple of Stones performances on Hullabaloo and Shindig.

I remember that performance very well. Shot in a white-walled studio. There was a giant black bar that they floated over the huge logo on Mac's piano. Great show, never re-run and totally overlooked because it was aired on NBC at 1:00 AM right after ABC's In Concert ran the much-hyped debut of Alice Cooper's Welcome To My Nightmare TV Special.

I'll have to go down and view it and see how it holds up after 32 years...

Tell Everyone - see how much Ron is enjoying himself - this clip is pure pleasure. (I know the band's miming but it doesn't seem to matter here!)

I'm playing at Kenny Jones's club (Hurtwood Park) next month with my band. Hope to meet the guy since the Faces are one of my biggest inspirations (next to the Stones and Gram Parsons).

I must interrupt this thread to go off topic slightly but I just came across this...

Again, mimed - but who cares!

Steve Marriott was one of the best front men ever. Great guitarist too! Not necessarily a virtuoso but great playing that fitted well with the music- massively underrated in my opinion.

Ooh La La was probably the first ever lead vocal by Woody ever to be recorded? I'm not sure of this, but I would not know of any lead vocals he did before this.

Actually Ron Wood co-sang lead on 'My Fault' (w/ Rod) & 'Glad & Sorry' (w/ Ronnie). I always thought, tho uncredited, he sings w/ Ronnie on 'On The Beach' as well. He had that pre coked/alcohol soaked voice back then, sort of like Keith circa 'Something Happened To Me Yesterday'

Youtube "Richmond": always one of the coolest songs ever written and here (for once?) performed live. Look at the bassist...

Well at least they're not just the outtakes from the box, which were generally excellent - more unreleased Faces, something to look forward to.

Would like to see "Coast To Coast" put out on CD. It was slagged off when first released but listening to it now it sure beats just about everything else out there..... four sets of fingers and one throat!
