There was loads of security walking around so the touts got chased off.

That said, I did manage to get a ticket off one for Sunday but I just got lucky, I guess, as later he'd "disparu" (perhaps lost in a jail in South America).

SPOT the song reference

I'm wondering for some years now -
how come that at most gigs there are (seemingly organized) people approaching you, asking whether you would SELL tics.

They do this at shows where many tickets are still available too !

Anybody knows how they work?!

I was quite suprised by the lack of ticket touts, bootleggers and even beggars around the O2 on sunday too! It didn't click at first, but i knew that somthing just didn't seem "normal"!

Normally people just whisper "wanna ticket" to you, but this was different in Orpoto last year, as at the main entrance to the multi stori car park near the stadium, there were about 4 men in a line, all holding out a ticket, and showing them to passing cars!

They only buy off you for a fraction of the face value, so they can sell them on less than face value themselves and still make a profit. I have had a spare to sell before and walked away from them because of how little they were offering. I'd rather go without the money, small amount that it was, than think one of these scum bags would be able to fleece someone else

I think they should cost less. But I no longer believe in the concept of "face value." Concert tickets are like airline tickets, how much you pay depends on when you buy them and who you buy them from.

I don't see what's so scummy about that. Capitalism in action. They offer you what your ticket is worth (which is usually a lot less than what you paid) and resell it to someone else, usually offering a much better deal than the box office with a small profit for their trouble. Often times they buy tickets and the market shifts, no buyers show up and they eat the loss. Again, capitalism in action.

Ticketmaster encourages this activity with their high maximum ticket allowance and also the fact that most people just automatically buy 2 tickets whether they have someone to go with or not.
