in '05 they did - and i agree with that assessment. i was talking about rehearsals done for this leg and songs that haven't been played on this leg....

They also rehearsed "Ventilator blues" damn it. Show some balls. Most people are fans in the O2.

yeah - that was my opening salvo on this thread, harm.... but, in all candor, that's an MT song - he wrote and owns it, for my money....

We are 9 norwegian fans who are going to the concert on Sunday. We also had tickets to the after concert show (Let`s spend the night together). This show is now cancelled.

Are there other plans for fans / meeting place after the concert on Sunday?

We will be in the Pilot Inn in the afternoon, so may we can make any plans then?

Keith: "They will probably bust me for this"...

Some people go to the st.Gilles (?) hotel. Not my choice

It is true that recordings don't alter the music, but recordings cannot capture the performance, which is critical to assessing the music. If you listen to a recording of Saitama, and hear Keith's guitar going MIA on the B-Stage, you would conclude that he was not playing well. But if you watch the video and see him handing picks to people in the front row, then you would think something else entirely.

Meanwhile, in other news ....

Last night was one of those Stones shows where they played as if their lives depended on it and they certainly pulled out some real plums. Start Me Up was as perfunctory as ever but as soon as Let's Spend The Night Together started up you knew that they were going to throw in some rarities.

The first key moment came as Keith revved up the opening chords of All Down The Line, a song they play all too rarely. We could have been back in the 70s because it had that same sense of urgency as when they first toured it.

The next real jaw dropping moment came when Mick sang the first lines to Shine A Light...."saw you stretched out in room 1009, with a smile on your face and a tear right in your eye". The audience went mad as Chuck Leavell coaxed those opening Southern Baptist chords out of his organ. We were together, we were unified as the 02 transformed into a Sunday morning prayer meeting. Yessiree, this was prime Exile material being exhumed. Let's hope Brian was looking down and smiling as Jagger sang the line "berber jewellery jangling down the street".

So many fans had been wanting Midnight Rambler and then seven songs in after 30 seconds of some guitar weaving from Keith and Ronnie, Mick started blowing that harp...Keith started that relentless, eternal duh duh duh duh duh duh duh riff and we were away on a rampaging, pillaging hayride of a version. At 11 minutes, not the longest rendition ever but still intense as Keith and Ronnie traded licks that sounded like they were coming straight out of a south side Chicago juke joint. When the band rock this good there can be absolutely no argument that they are the best in the world.

Lisa Fisher got her chance to shine on I Go Crazy and then came another classic moment, Keith made a joke about the press furore of them smoking on the first night at the 02 and then lit up. After a few drags he threw the ciggie down and laughed in that throaty cackle, "ah, it's only cotton wool". What a man. Rebel till the end.

There were no surprises with the B-stage songs and with the band now on the home straight it seemed as they would just go into overdrive mode and churn out those old warhorse singles at the end of the set. But the next treat came after a lively Sympathy when Keith started his flamenco style intro to Paint It Black. This was perhaps the best version I've ever seen them perform and I've seen them 30 times now. This was truly mesmerising and Charlie was heroic pounding out that insistent beat and as Keef and Ronnie's guitars howled as Jagger sung his love lorne lyric of 'having to turn his head until his darkness goes'.

So a barnstormer of a gig. How will they top that on Sunday. What other gems will they unearth. Many people seem to want Gimme Shelter and Memory Motel. We will have to wait and see.

This was without doubt one of their best performances I have ever seen. Rambler was awesome. Intro to PIB fantastic. Keith and Ron on top form.

And now: EVERYTHING WAS BETTER, even the things we thought couldn`t
get any better!

The sound in A1 was loud and clear, maybe the best ever! Finally
our ears are ringing from the loud and distorted guitars. It was
a show were ou had nothing but guitars!

The man of the evening was indeed Ronnie, nailing every solo,
even headed into leads whern no one expected him to do so, as on Rambler!

Keith played twice as much riffs and licks as on Tuesday. Once again he
was in top shape. Mick and Charlie were doing best what they always do!

But the focus was on that g u i t a r show last night!

Btw, the Stones should avoid giving tickets away like they did, the left
front block (where we were) had maybe 20 people who were into the show,
the rest was just standing and watching, even when Mick turned them on
they just didn`t clap or let them go. But we did our best!

The main problem nowadays is that half of the audience is busy with taking photos, checking and storing/deleting them etc. No chance to get the hands
up! On Sunday smoking and taking photos should be prohibited!

Btw, we managed to get to the b stage and Keith gave me a plec as I was
pointing at his hand. He looked at me and gave it right into my palm!!!

Sounds like its a concensus...that last night's show was a killer. Cant wait to hear the recording....get those vids out!!! My best show of the Bang tour was Baltimore 06...sounds like this was on par. In "Balmer" you knew from the start you were in for something special...but with the band these days, you never know when the wheels might come off. I think thats what makes a great show now so incredible...you think to yourself, when are they gonna screw up, so you are on pins and needles waiting for it, and as the show goes on, the adrenelin keeps pumping, making the show even greater. Congrats to the Stones for pulling out all the stops...

Photos are OFFICIALLY prohibited anyway, but everyone was taking them. I decided quite early on that I wasn't going to waste a show like this on photography - I'd rather have some glorious memories than a bunch of blurry photos.

wow what a show.

I was sitting up near the rafters but very close to the stage, there were a few empty seats near me but from the floor you can't see these i guess. i went down and asked about upgrades and spoke to someone with no clue about it only for the people next to me who arrived late and had never even seen the Stones to get some.

Great show good stay, All Down the Line and Shine a Light . Ronnie was really on form and keith was just Keith. Instead of the now usual going up the crowd and then not playing her was really on it and getting in the mood.

The sound wasn't great where i was as we got a bit of on echo on Mick but once you got into the show it didn't matter.

When keith came out for his section he never bothered with a guitar at first which was a strange sight but what a version of You Got The Silver. Love this song and only second time I got it live.

B Stage they rocked too.. house lights on at some points and place was jumping and everyone was having a great time. Great version of Satisfaction too started real different and really got into the groove there.

Only thing I noticed was during LSTNT I heard backing singers but could only see the boys on stage and the same thing with Satisfaction there was Lisa singing but she wasn't on B Stage and not on main stage either.

I decided to fix that and bought a Panasonic Lumix camera today. It will never take a blurry picture. I've been practicing with moving and dancing leaves and it's true. Sharp and beautiful. Also does a x9 zoom. It also looks like a normal point and shoot camera so it isn't pro. I'll be ready on Sunday. But I'll still be enjoying the show!

I wish that I had a camera like this in 75, 78, 81, 89, 94, 95, 97, 98, 99, 02, 03, 05, and 06. Then I would have some glorious pics instead of blurry memories!!
