The Pilot Inn - London meeting place
Posted by: bv ()
Date: August 22, 2007 10:25

The Pilot Inn was a great meeting place for the O2 show. Just 5-10 minutes walk from the tube station next to the O2 arena, not too packed, still lots of great fans and friends. Also, they played Stones music and served great food and beer. Perfect for show day on Thursday and Sunday as well. See you there, anytime during the afternoon.

To find the Pilot Inn, just walk out of the North Greenwich (Jubilee Line) tube station next to the millenium dome (O2), leave at bus terminal exit A, walk like 5-10 minutes along the road East Parkside or West Parkside, or across the field between these. At the end of the field you will see the Pilot Inn. Also see details in the London travel pages.

Hey Bjornulf, nice to meet you briefly yesterday!

The Pilot Inn is indeed a great place, and they were really helpful with the music. I brought along some stones cd's, and one of the bar staff went and found another cd player and connected it (their normal system uses some special dvd thing that doesn't accept regular cd's) and allowed me to play my cd's and turn the volume UP UP UP!!

London Pride was £2.80. I don't think the food was TOO dear.

Haha, cheers guys... I will have my dad and my brother with me thursday, to keep me from getting too "out of control"...

Sunday however, I am attending on my own, and will have only you 'crazies' to keep me from trouble...

Which is of course a good thing.

How "good" is the food? I mean, if there are a few 100 people, I can imagine it being a bit of a problem.
Maybe better to eat elsewhere?

The best pre-show venue by a mile, country or otherwise!

Great beer, and food was fine...steak with onions for £12 hit-the-spot.

Oh yeah, and the music and company was pretty good too!

Cheers,

Si.

no it was comfortable.
its not within sight of the Arena.
you wouldn't mistakenly, stumble across it.

Hence, the only Stonesfans there, were the ones who read the boards.

On Sunday we have read they serve a traditional English lunch with all the trimmings. Is this going to make it harder to find a seat and get some different food?

It is traditional English pub food. Price around 8 pounds which is totally fine with me. Nothing wrong with the food. The beer is great. London Pride bitter works great and I am told that this brewery FULLER is in fact not a large corporate but local to the London area and not even national, so that works even better for me (I do not like the large beer consotiums destroying the local historic brands).

If we did not list this pub as a meeting place on IORR then I am sure there would be very few Stones fans finding their way there. They are so close to the O2 you would not believe it - still very few people come in from that direction. And once you are in England why not get a taste of the drinks and the food and the feel that made these guys - the Stones - what they are today.

See you at the Pilot Inn tomorrow!

Bjornulf

That's what I planned to do yesterday, but I spent so long hunting for the bloody thing (without success) that I missed the meet-up as well.

I hope for better luck at the weekend.

You might have to scrape me off the floor at the end of the tour, but it'll be really good scrapings. - Mick Jagger
