Places for the next European tour
Posted by: beast of burgk ()

I'd say:

London, Wembley Stadium (of course)
St. Denis, Stade de France (also very probably)

But then? The main market West Germany is burnt out after 17 years of massive touring there. The three stadiums this year SEEMED packed, but they were actually half filled. If there will be ONE show at all on the next European tour in West Germany, then probably in the South (Munich or Stuttgart or even Karlsruhe?).

But there are enough forgotten cities/markets left IMO for further stadium shows (hall concerts are possible anywhere of course if the prices are not too perverted). Let's say:

Sofija
Prague
Kiev
Riga
Moscow
East Germany (Dresden, Erfurt and/or Rostock)
Innsbruck/ Imst
Berne (not far from Zurich or Lausanne, but there's enough $ in Switzerland)
Athens
Zagreb
Bratislava (also for CZ, East part of Austria, Hungary)
Rejkavic
Dubai (okay this is actually Asia)
Tel Aviv
Rotterdam once again
Trondheim
Horsens/ West Denmark
Stockholm
somewhere in England
a region in Spain where they have not been for a while (what about Valencia?)

That's already at least 20, if not 25 shows which would all sell pretty well IMO. Much better than Benelux/West Germany 2007 I think.

From this point of view, another European tour in two years time would make pretty much sense.

What do ya think?

Isn't this a bit too much Scandinania ;-) This thead was meant to be serious, dear BB. More sense would make to add Stockholm to my list.

I'm not into forgotten cities. The good example of this was Brno during this tour. The gig was sweet but if Prague was the host city there would be more audience for sure plus it would be easier for fans to find the accomodation.

Brno 22.07.07 & Warsaw 25.07.07

I partly agree. Brno was my only show this year and one of my best out of 36 shows! But is was maybe a bit too forgotten region, that's why only 30.000 people turned up. Brno has only 360.000 inhabitents and is a bit in the middle of nowhere (sorry). I don't think it's comparable to - for instance - Dresden which has a conglomeration area of twice that size. I added Prague which I forgot first to my list.

30,000 people showed up in Brno because that was the maximum capacity there.

My suggestions: Didnt mean they should play all, just a few suggestions to choose from.

I dont agree on Brno at all: Look at the map!
See within such a small range ya'll find Slovenia, Hungary, Austria.
Actually that visit gave birth to a biking holiday around these countries.
No big deal findin accomodations there; my team just made a
scouting weekend out off it. Lots of fine hotels there.

My next pick in this region woulds be:
Miskolc (Diosgyör or Miskolc-Tapolca?)& Fonyod, Hungary.
Bratislava/Pozsony, Slovakia.
LJubljana, Slovenia
Split, Croatia
Athens, Greece. (for fokks sake!)

Note the wild get-together at Starobrno!!!!

Well forget about it. there will be no more show - or maybe one - in West Germany IMO in the future after the 2007 disaster where there band had trouble enough to get the stadiums half filled... Unless they do some hall concerts, but I don't think this will be scheduled.

Malmo or Lund? Why not Malmo AND Lund? Yes, BB. I can't understand how the Beast has overlooked Gotland. The question is which city is most suitable, Slite or Klintehamn?

Wittyness overwhelms the board tonight.
Half-millions of Stockholmers overwhels that island during summers.
Just see who'll have the last laugh.
My suggestions on location is, roughly: Visby.

It's your point. I'd say not everyone's into camping. Plus those who travelled by train can confirm the fact many train were delayed or cancelled. Myself I had to take a bus to some village to change for a train because train was canceleed due to "technical reason".
Perhaps there were some fine hotels but the situation was bad with hostels.
Compring Prague 2003 and Brno 2007 I'd say visiting Prague was much more fun. Next time I'd rather go to Prague than to Brno. If Brno was so fine why Stones haven't stayed there?

Brno 22.07.07 & Warsaw 25.07.07

The gig was great but the place sucked. No decent clubs, poor night life. All one can do was just drinking beer. The only good thing about Brno is the girls are really beautiful there.

Next time Stones should play in Kazakhstan in Alma Ata. Great market and they are not tired of too many Stones shows.

Okay, if they have a 30.000 capacity stadium somewhere in Finland next time around this might get a show (Turku?; has anybody a tape of the 1965 show there by the way ;;-). Scandinavian shows always sell pretty well or are sold out, but one should not forget there where six Scandianvian shows in 2006/07.

But only Stockholm and Trondheim would make real sense too me if the next tour in Europe is already in 2009 (which I reckoned).

That would really make sense, Nico! Thanks. Hope the 30.000+ capacity new stadium in Dresden is also available for the next Stones tour.

youre obviously very optimistic here...making plans for a future tour when at the very moment it is very doubtful that there will ever be one!!!

Yeah, donvito, now ya talkin'.

Otherwise these threads reveals how people reduce themselves

I've never said when I believe next European tour will be:
my belief is that will hardly take place before 2010, maybe even later.

We must consider the market at that very occasion.

On One hand, I doubt they will play "Globen" and "Eriksberg" (???)
at one single tour (since they always oscillate), one the other hand they GOTTA
and ought to, rationally, explore new markets.

I wouldnt bother if they played Northern Sweden instead of Southern.
The Southerners could travel 1500 km this time.

Will not say that something like this makes no sense, actually it makes a lot of sense, but three corrections seem to be allowed:

1) arena shows will probably only be "bonus" shows added to another stadium tour
2) if they do Saxonia, then I think Dresden; Leipzig is done (remember the horrible ticket sales for the Zentralstadion in 2006?)
3) Allianz Arena Munich is only made for Soccer events. If they ever play Munich again, then Olympiastadion or Olympiahalle (they did both in 2003).

Horsens for Denmark and Stockholms Stadion is my suggestions
if we talk a big tour within a small time range.

They could fill every stadium in Germany as long as the ticket prices will be realistic. Moon prices of 190 Euro are no longer accepted. Otherwise they will have to erect the stage directly in front of the small curve of the stadiums.

Except the fact that Horsens has publicly stated, they are done with major concerts?

Seriously, the Scandinavian countries sold pretty good - not to say fantastic -this time around. As they have all the other times.

I was mighty surprised they sold 44.000 tickets in Copenhagen just 11 months after Horsens - I'd have thought 35.000 was alright. But they f*cking did it - and the same way as anywhere else - with hardly any promotion.

So in a few years time - yeah - Denmark will be ready for Stones again!! Only this time let them play one big concert and one small ;-)
