I've seen that Christmas tree before! (last pic) Looks a lot like the one we threw out of the house in early January. So, it's on tour now...

Even if most people here seem to have other opinions!

I've had very much contact with and around "Stoneslife" over the years.
I don't wanne go too deep into that but I'm pretty shure about my judgement of Keith on that day!

I still love the Stones (especially Keith) and of course always will.

But Keith playin is declining very much.Some people seem to confuse professional gesturing out of experience with real good playing.
With such blind following it's easy for Keith to think it's enough just to stand on that stage and now and than touch his guitarstrings.But I didn't nowhere say that it is always like that!

With cover up I meant If one has a day off - another like Ron or more and more Blondie makes good for him.
I mentioned Chuck as well cause he plays more and more guitariffs on his keyboards.

btw there were indeed a lot of musicians present. Alone three of them in my company.

Sure, but she's still a very nice woman, so it might be quite difficult to keep the eyes away from her :-)

I agree with CousinC and Alimente.
Whatever some guys say here - Keith is hardly playing anymore and it often sounds bad when he plays. I still love them too and it hurts me to say so, but that is how I experienced it and how I hear it at every bootleg. I envy you guys who don't hear it....don't know if you lie to yourself or if you really think he's "on fire"

funny thing is that if you read reviews, theres no such thing like Keith playing "just" normal. its either "hes hardly playing anymore and it often sounds bad" or "hes on fire". I guess everybody has his or her own way of dealing with it. some maybe lie to themselves, but its also possible that some really dont notice it because the show is usually still great and this can destract from his playing and even more when you dont realize Blondie covering him up and increasingly also Chuck. I was not happy with his playing at some early shows of this ABB leg, but was quite relieved when I read reviews from shows I did not attend like "hes back..he was on fire last night". but boots from the shows I did not attend told me that this was wishful thinking!!!! anyway I dont want to speculate whats the reason for his playing, I more or less have learned to live with it by accepting the fact and enjoy the band as a whole while theyre still around. it is as it is and we cant change it.

You see, the thing is that I really feel bad about how I perceive them live these days. I wish I could say it's all perfect, really. I miss those days when I came out of the Stones concert and I felt like I spent 2 hours in heaven. These times I still enjoy it a lot, still they put on the best show ever - but I sometimes walked out with a bit of a bitter feeling. Keith is not on fire anymore - yes, I accept he is old and I am too glad that he is still on the stage and playing - but he is not on fire. Sorry, he's just not.

All i know is in Lyon, Keith fu**ing killed it period! after that i don't know i saw a few show's and was not that inclined on how he played but the concert's were great especially Madrid,Woody was awesom!His 54 was very torked and sounded unbelievable!

yes, Lorenz, your feelings exactly reflect mine. I still enjoy it, but sometimes theres a feeling of bitterness, and like you I dearly miss those days when I came out of a show and felt like 2 hours in heaven. sorry for repeating your words but I cant say it in better way.

maybe you were too drunk to remembersome of Keith's good moments at other shows. Sober up! So many want to tell Keith how to run HIS life!!!

please believe me, keith was great

in madrid he was really really bad.. but in dusseldorf he was really great !

I'm so happy Keith looked fully fit and (to my ears and eyes) playing great in Dusseldorf. He seemed really focussed and I saw him directing the band when to end songs. I could tell no sloppyness and there was not the amount of posing to the crowd as there was in Helsinki. I remember him there seem to get a bit annoyed a few times early on with his hands as if they were not working properly, not so at all on Monday night.

But its not about telling him how to run his life. I read in Bockris book that Keith really wants to be critizied, he has to improve, feel a bit threatened. Not tired. That said, it seems he's in a new phase that shows on YGTS while the guitar hero is gone. In 1976, dying from heroin, he could focus on the guitar and run the whole show.

In Düsseldorf was the same. His hands didn't work on some numbers.Espec.on Got me rockin .
And I'm the last to tell keith what to do. It's absoltutely ok with me but I'm a bit sad and unsatisfied these days.
Get yourself some boots. You can't hardly listen to them no more.

but if it's good for others thats fine to me!!

So what?? Some think he's on fire, some don't. What's "fire" for some of you don't have to be "fire " for someone else and vice versa. Who's to say what's wrong and what's right? People with a lot of musicians as friends? Ok.

no worries, friend on mine recorded the show (80% of it) so there will be a dvd.. and then everybody can see how fantastic keith was

I've seen the Stones many times on the ABB tour...and 4 times so far this summer...and I've shared my thoughts with all of you here...and the only conclusion that I can come to is that Keef is completely unpredictable. He was always inconsistent in his heyday. Some nights he was amazing, on some he was awful...but nowadays his inconsistencies happen even WITHIN the framework of a show. In other words, he might be awful at the beginning, rally in the middle, and falter again at the end. He is very fragile. I've seen shows where he looks strong and vital...and shows where he seems to be completely lost and tenuous. There are parts of shows where he dominates with power chording...and then times when his 'solos' are pathetic shadows of what once was.

amen - i've listened to some of the recordings of this leg (as much as i can bear to, at least) - if you don't think keith's playing has deteriorated noticeably in the last year or so, i don't know what to tell you. i'm glad some of you are enjoying what you are seeing and hearing. wish i could join you.

Yeah, I agree about that too. Also, it might very well be that Keith got better again after the shows I saw, you never know...I certainly wish so

I was lucky at this gig. First my seat was changed from the B-Stage to the end of FOS area. Not being satisfied I thought to speak to someone about changing it. My effort paid off, my friends and I got wrist bands for the mixing desk. I have to say it was one the best shows, performance and sound wise that I can remember, considering past tours. Also being a setlist whiner I must say it didn't matter in this case. Also, to boot I caught a pick from Ronnie at the B-Stage. What a night! I'm glad this was my Final Bang. Until next year of course...
