On my way home from work, listening to NPR, I heard the proclamation of Baltimore Mayor Shelia Dixon declaring today as Frank Zappa Day. I thought that was so cool. Why today? A brief blurb (and the audio) can be found here:

I think Zappa Plays Zappa are playing there tonight at Rams Head.

ZPZ is Dweezil with some of Frank's old bandmates and new ones playing FZ's music.

I've seen them 3X. They are great!

Also FZ was from Baltimore, or his parents were, before heading west to California.

FZ has a song called 'What's new in Baltimore" too.

A bit of "What's New in Baltimore" was playing as the segment ended.

Right now, a personal favorite ("Apostrophe", with Frank and Jack Bruce jamming), is playing.

I love Frank Zappa. I wish he was still alive today.

heard it on WRNR too- saw squeeze at the pier 6 last night-- they didn't mention it tho!

ha ha, in a town in Italy called Agropoli (a little south of Naples) there is a Via Frank Zappa that runs along the train station !! Also a huge colorful graffiti mural on the wall full of Frank Zappa stuff - it's too bad i can't find my photos !!!! I thought it was strange because I'm pretty sure that Zappa was of Sicilian descent...there was a car parked on the street with two kids smoking pot inside so i asked them why all this Zappa stuff was there ?? They just laughed, they didn't know either - they just said "è cosi'" - that's just the way it is !
