Dimarzio virtual pick ups: Advice wanted

Can anyone advise whether the Dimarzio virtual pick ups are any good? I want to replace the current pickups in my Stratocaster. Originally, I thought of using Fender vintage noiseless pickups but a guitar tech has advised to use Dimarzios.

I want a fatter blues sound and he suggests a virtual heavy blues in the bridge position and solo pros (I think) in the middle and neck positions.

It's a vintage reissue U.S. strat. I'm not sure of the wood. Maybe swamp ash? It's very light and I use reasonably light strings. 9s on the top E.
I use a Gallien Kruger amp but will more than likely get a Fender tube amp.

Can anyone advise about these pickups?

On DiMarzio pickups I am the last person to ask, so if you ask me: I truly dislike any pickup ever made by DiMarzio. They haven't made ONE decent pickup. They're all loud, flat and empty pickups. Good for 80's hard rock through a JCM 900, but that's it.

Now that's the key sentence!!!

keep your stock pups and get a Fender amp FIRST - your whole sound-expierience is gonna change anyhow.
...and you might love what you've got, pick-up-wise.

now why the heck do they call 'em "virtual heavy blues" ?
do you have to think it sounds like heavy blues?

Well, the only original pick up is the neck pick up which I like. The middle pick up is a Telecaster? hot rail (don't know the maker) which actually sounds quite good (especially when playing slide). Looks goddamn ugly though. I don't know what is in the bridge position but it is a bit flat. Based on Mathijs comment, it could more than likely be a Dimarzio.

I think I might stick with my original idea of the Vintage noiseless pickups or possibly the Jeff Beck set which are supposed to be very good thoygh a little pricey. The hotter Texas style overwound pickups might also be OK though they get mixed reviews.

If you want decent pickups buy some Bare Knuckle pickups. I recommend an Irish Tour set. These pickups are hand wound and absolutely spot on. www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk. For reviews go to this website [reviews.harmony-central.com]

Thanks Nick B

I'll check them out. Irish Tour - Is that a reference to Rory Gallagher?

Absolutely terraplane. I bought some Bareknuckle piledrivers for my Tele and they sound awesome. They have different spec pickups for Strats so would recommend that you go to their website and have a browse. They're really approachable as you can pick up the phone and speak to the guy who makes them.
