Gothenburg reports and comments
Posted by: Lilla Chinchilla ()

Stones arrived to the hotel in Gothenburg around 17.00CET.
They didn´t sign any autographs,
just went right in to the hotel.
It was over in 15 seconds.

Same with Cologne 07/2006 at Hyatt. But then I made the mistake leaving the bar at 11pm. Check in 1700CET

Monday newspaper told me Mick, Charlie and Ronnie entered the bar at 1110pm...

I have just updated the new Gothenburg reports pages:

[iorr.org]

Many links from Swedish press, and more coming.
Like for me - 1973, 1982, 1990, 1998 - they are back to Göteborg!
And the city will be boiling today,
a city which can really be a Stones city when
more than 50,00 fans arrive. All over the city.
All hotels are of course fully booked.

I just heard on Norwegian radio that the first cars from Norway
are on their way the 3-4 hours drive down to Gothenburg.
Many Norwegian fans can't wait until next week Valle Hovin Oslo.
And this is the Svinseund bridge we cross for Ullevi today,
it is in the border between Norway and Sweden, highway Oslo to Göteborg.

In 1973 we were around 120 hard core fans going from Oslo to Scandinavium Gothenburg to see the Stones. There were three buses leaving from Kontraskjæret. A great memory and very unusual back then to cross borders to see a show. But the Stones had not visited Norway since 1965, so this was our chance. They were great of course. Scandinavium is an ice hockey rink that takes around 10,000 people.

In 1982 they announced two shows and a total of 60 - sixty - buses left Oslo with fans, a totel of 2.500 Norwegian fans in buses. Then 1,000+ cars were driving too. Nobody knows but estimates of 5,000 - 10,000 people were on the road from Norway to Nya Ullevi Gothenburg then. Every single gaz station was filled up with fans taking a break durng the day. Those were the days.

In 1990 they played Oslo too so it was not that busy going to Göteborg. Same with 1998. But now it is so many years since they visited Oslo. Many fans can't wait until next week. And Bergen (show last year) is so far away and was so wet. The sun is shining, the six weeks long rainy weather in our area seems to be going away now, and Göteborg is calling!

Yeah, on the Biggest Bang DVD he's taping everytime he leaves a car or the hotel etc.... He must have hours and hours of documentation. Hopefully some of this will be available for the fans some time.

Nice to see YGM dropped. They should've played Sparks Will Fly from VL instead. Or even I Go Wild. Both worked pretty good on the voodoo tour.

It's a "Let It Bleed show" already. They'll probably do five songs from the album (out of nine in total!) if you count HTW as Country Honk.

Somewhat bizarre, but okay, the 1969 LP was much much better than Bigger Bang (which was the best new album at least since Voodoo Lounge nevertheless). They play what the people want to hear, we gotta deal with it.
