At least during the 1792 tour the warhorses were young and served a purpose during battle.

their song "Sweet NeoFederalist" really flubbed, despite Mick constantly denying it was not about G. Washington, but rather about the state of the newly instated NYSE

Their first live album, "Live At The Columbia University" is from that tour. It´s great. Very raw and primitive. Lots of mistakes on it though, they didn´t know how to overdub in those days.

i'll tell you one thing, they sure had guts being a British band playing in the newly formed United States. talk about a rough gig!

Benjamin Franklin: I would be most honoured to help you with your stage production, Mr. Jagger.

Mick: Go fly a bloody kite!

another big problem doing a world tour in 1792 was that it took around 7 years. imagine, sailing from england to east coast us alone....and then the tough and hard journey to the LA Forum....

I think some of these concerts were preserved for future listening - by the sing-and-pass-on -method. Still hasn't showed up on liberated bootlegs, but I did hear 2 songs from the opening show - sung by my grandfather

that´s an interesting story from your grandpa,
i also remember my greatgrandma singing some strange song nobody ever knew where she got it from....maybe she was a groupie back then....

They were getting back to their roots even back then, when they were conquering arenas in America the first time around and around. The boys were all great with their axes back then too. I thought that drummer boy Charlie looked a bit silly though in his bright red jacket. But I must say it fit him very well. Charlie's "really good today" young Mick said as he led his band into the theater.

Their early keyboard player, Wolfgang Mozart, left the band in 1791 (citing the traditional "musical differences") because he did not want to join the American tour, and died shortly afterwards in Vienna in mysterious circumstances....

Keith, as we know, still plays his music sometimes.

Ev'rywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy
'cause summer's here and the time is right for fighting in the street, boy
But what can a poor boy do
'cept to sing for a rock n roll band
'cause in sleepy london town
Theres just no place for a street fighting man
No

Hey! think the time is right for a palace revolution
But where I live the game to play is compromise solution
Well, then what can a poor boy do
'cept to sing for a rock n roll band
'cause in sleepy london town
Theres no place for a street fighting man
No

Hey! Said my name is called disturbance
I'll shout and scream, I'll kill the king, I'll rail at all his servants
Well, what can a poor boy do
'cept to sing for a rock n roll band
'cause in sleepy london town
Theres no place for a street fighting man
No

Surely this is about the Stones and their early battles. It should be noted however, that there were other acts that supported the eighteenth century British Invasion.

Of course, without the Beatles first infiltrating the shores of America, it is unlikely that the Stones could have rolled through so easily like they did. BTW, we're talking BEFORE the arrival of Sgt. Pepper.

Betsy Ross has never gotten all the credit she deserves for whipping up their stage costumes.

It is NOT true that she dated any of the band.

Poor Bets...she didn't even get cut in on a percentage of the pleated shirts concession.

Six men = Keef, Mick, Charlie, Bill, Brian and Ian.

Keef was first passenger!

OMG another Leno joke about The Stones? Half of his material must be Stones related. If it weren't for The Stones Jay apparently wouldn't have a career- maybe he could still pitch Doritos.

laughin' my ass off is not a desperate move...it's a great one...
ain't nothin' what it used to be...that's why the date changes every day i guess, according to the sundial and town crier anyway...
maybe you can show us the way with some great thread or critical analyses of the forum year to year...or assemble a history of your own brilliance and paste it on a thread so us neophytes can see the real deal. Meeanwhileee, Lestat lives.
