The band had a following among the British aristocracy from very early days - here's Bill at Kew Palace around 1789 demonstrating bass technique to some very well-bred young ladies.
i have now read this whole epic thread and conclude that this particular contribution has to be the funniest. Z, you still around?Quote

It was a huge tour. I heard that they used more than 20 whales for the lighting.

No one talks about the Stones of 1812 tour, I know it was short lived, but worth a mention

The thing about I remember about that tour was the opening act, some band called the William Tell orchestra. They were really, really loud and the drummer played a lot like Keith Moon. Unfortunately, the show I saw sucked. Mick was hoarse and made the excuse that he might have a slight touch of the plague, then pointed out some red spots on his neck. It really pissed off some girl in the front row and she kept shouting at him "plague is black, you devil".
new fan? i admit i was afraid of posting here andQuote

Wasn't that the year they played in Moscow? Napoleon had tickets, but even with his entire army he didn't make it to the gig (and had some trouble getting home, as I recall...)
of course, caesar (right in the middle, above the main entrance)Quote

Speaking of meat to the lions, the choir for YCAGWYW had a difficult time the first time they played Rome:
