If I recall right, Eric Little Clap Horse and the Indians were the opening act.

Fortunately they turned down the Iroquois Nation's offer to look after the security for ten kegs of firewater.

The Iroquois were fine, it was the drunken Pilgrams that wreacked havoc. Over 200 were arrested for disorderly conduct and were sent to the stocks.

Had to bail out a few IORR members...

Not me. I had heard of some amazing shows at the East India Trading Co. arena and set out from Ireland on the Jeannie Johnson. By the time we reached shore however, it was too late. The 1792 tour had ended 3 weeks prior.

Luckily caught the "13 colonies and Counting tour" the following year. Master Taylor was amazing. Worth every farthing. Good times.

It took a year savings to go to a show back then

I was extremely lucky enough to acquire a front row ticket for the October 11 1792 concert on Mercury - the opening leg of their Solar System Tour - wow, what a show that was. Damn hot it was being so close to the Sun. But I learned to appreciate it after that icy Pluto performance, froze my butt off on that one.

The RS SST was the highlight of my 800 year life so far...and I hope to see them again in 3232.

Wasn't that the year they played in Moscow? Napoleon had tickets, but even with his entire army he didn't make it to the gig (and had some trouble getting home, as I recall...)

The Beacon bid for tickets for the 1792-8 “Steel horseshoes” tour would have made Ticketmaster look like saints. You had to light your own beacon on some hill and hope your sign (saying “I want 4 GA tickets”) would be even seen by the local promoters, which was a horrible experience. I got no response. Finally in 1793 our village was notified by the special Rolling Stones Homing Pigeon application about a limited time “lucky dip” tickets sale for the Papal State & Venice & Kingdom of Sardinia tour of 1796 and specifically for the St. Marco piazza gig. I got the tickets by 1795 and went on my way soon after arriving to the venue just as the lucky dip counters were open, which was some 29 days prior to the gig. Was happy to discover I won a perfect seat on the bridge of sights. It was a brilliant gig. Best ever. Great setlist: they opened with “Its only Baroque”, during which Ronnie rocked on his Organ. With the French and Austrian armies on the march no eye remained dry when Lisa screamed “Rape-Murder its just shot away” and of course “yellow honey” was brilliant, as usual, even though Keith fuc$ed up the intro, as usual. At the end of the gig I shared a gondola with some fellow IORRians whom I met previously on the Indulgence Lounge tour. Alltogather my memories are very good of that tour.

The thing about I remember about that tour was the opening act, some band called the William Tell orchestra. They were really, really loud and the drummer played a lot like Keith Moon. Unfortunately, the show I saw sucked. Mick was hoarse and made the excuse that he might have a slight touch of the plague, then pointed out some red spots on his neck. It really pissed off some girl in the front row and she kept shouting at him "plague is black, you devil".

new fan? i admit i was afraid of posting here and
getting beheaded right away, but i'm a lurker since,
let's say 1848. that's right, the time of the big gold
rush of california. if i'm not much mistaken, the
long demo of "everything's turning to gold" was
recorded back then. my first concert was in 1999.
who is the new fan now? =)

Must have been early in the year, because in June, they invaded America, stayed for 2 1/2 years, and when they left there was nothing to show for it. Reviews were mixed, no known Bootlegs (except maybe for what folks were drinking) and most people in the rest of the world had no idea of what happened to their beloved Stones. They should have spent that time creating new music, but his Majesty Prince Jones had internal conflicts with Sir Mick...and the rest is history
