The band had a following among the British aristocracy from very early days - here's Bill at Kew Palace around 1789 demonstrating bass technique to some very well-bred young ladies.

GreenLady, shouldn't you point out those new-found axes to the Ratbag Boogie thread?

I think the lady in the background is playing the guitar that was later used by Keith in Pirates of the Caribbean, but the red Flying V is a new one, isn't it?

Anyway, Great-Great-Grandmother Leavell is enjoying herself (although as I pointed out earlier, Wolfi Mozart was their regular keyboard man at this time).

Oh Green Lady, you are delicious!

If only Heiloobaas and you would collaborate on The True History of the Rolling Stones and the Story Behind the 1792 Tour. Finally a book about rock music we can believe!

I'm sure StonesTod will have some thoughts for you.

Wasn't Bob Dylan a guest star when the Stones used the historic "Caveman Stage"?

As we all know that was a tribute to the past that had the 1792 crowd on their boots!

I know the Stones are almost as old as earth itself, but I wasn't born yet in 1792, so I have no experiences to sharedrinking smiley

After the latrines overflowed in the horse parking lots, Sweet Virginia took on a literal meaning.

There were no "meet and greets"...and no Shepherd's pie for Keith.

No Chuck Leavell either.

Let's see...I think I was eating cake with Marie Antoinette. Should have gone to the Stones concert instead.

I was lucky enough to score tickets for opening night. The set list was a little more varied that night and included...

Stagecoach 505
Square Dance Little Sister
Might as Well Get Leeched

During "Leeched", whenever Mick sang the line "might as well get leeched", people would start throwing their leeches onstage. By the end of the show, the whole stage was covered with leeches. Keith was completely hidden under a massive pile of them. You couldn't see him at all - just a walking mountain of leeches.

I tried to make some pictures, but security confiscated my chisel.

Nice to see our old friend the 1792 tour - must be the 1792 On Fire leg by now.

The 1792 setlist is transmitted:

one puff = HTW
two puffs = JJF
three puffs = SFM

They need to hire this crew again - they did a much better job than Twitter lately.

The 1792 tour was so long ago...even the old man from Pawn Stars doesn't remember it...

The pipe fumes from onstage are messing with the twitter signals.

At the end of the 1792 shows, they had a bunch of dudes behind the stage shooting muskets instead of fireworks.

This one still has me laughing!

Of course in 1798 they might have played "Musketball Motel". That alone would have been worth the price of admission.

One more classic!
