Don't forget 1000$ = 730€ today. Seems very reasonable to me.
If you charge 1000€/ticket, it will be a sell-out in 30 minutes.
2500pers = 2.500.000€ = 3.425.000$.
If you charge 1250€ for the first rows, and 750€ for the places in the back, you can work to an average price of 1000€/piece.

This is possible if someone does the job.

Just to ask them ...

to make a private show, in a rather small venue just like the O2 arena.

This show will be only for fans, not casual fans but real fans like we are.

It can be for free or for normal price..

Their staff know each e-mail of each fan (just ask to IORR and RS.com). They contact us and send us private tickets. They make special tee-shirts, promo stuff for this event (or these events, one in Europe, one in US and one in Australia).

Imagine a concert in a place full of real fans, singing all together.. this may seems crazy, but I think it is possible.

How can we suggest them this idea ?..

i don't think we should fixate too much on this $1000 a ticket idea - if it costs that much i don't think i could go either (uh, then again, there are those nasty credit cards ...) let's just see wot happens, maybe somehow we can get a good deal (like 10 dollars ?) :-)

Good points on letting them choose the setlist maybe with a bit of
input by us. I could go for blues covers very easily too.

I like the year of planning.

Don't forget the infrastructure costs - location, security, stage, lighting...

Plus those private shows only happen during tours - to cut travel costs and entourage (assistants, stones security, administrative...) costs.

I can add : the interest for the Stones can be a kind of promotion.. they can tape these shows.

And why wouldn't we ask the Stones for their favorite-setlist. (no warhorses), and surprise us?

they charge between $3-5 million for a 25 min set. Then you've got to pay the venue a guarantee as well+ booking a venue good enough for the stones to play in!

the of course who sits where if you all paid the same - you wouldnt have control over the setlist and the theres the bands riding costs.... their accomdation etc

+ you'd get the whole circus of a band

Not experienced in costing out the logistics of such a gig, but if they don't have the mega-stage and 200+ crew, wouldn't the incremental costs drop accordingly? If arena or stadia gigs are pursued, that would be a different matter, but likely defeat the purpose in the process...

I'm in if it ever comes to pass, but I also think a variation on this is exactly what they should base their next tour on. That is, do two shows in every city they visit (3 days apart to avoid vocal problem), one an arena show with ABB type set list for all the casual fans for $50-$400 a ticket, and then a club show for $500-$1,000 for the hard cores who want the precious and rarities only (well and maybe a couple of war horses). Similar to 2002-2003, but without the stadiums.

I also think they should give me backstage passes free for coming up with this excellent idea.

The only way it would be worthwhile is if the fans who were going got to vote on the setlist. If the Stones got to play whatever they wanted they'd just play a typical setlist you could see at any of their shows (with MAYBE one or two rarities thrown in), so what would be the point?

And the Stones are never going to let the fans dictate the setlist because it wouldn't be worth it to them to have to rehearse a bunch of rarities for a one-off show. They do the corporate gigs because they're easy money - an autopilot hit machine that is shorter than the average gig.

A private show where they have to learn a bunch of rarely or never played songs would be a hell of a lot of work for them - I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to put in that much work for one show.

All this talk of $3m or $3.5m or more ... everyone's losing the point. What's called for is "unplugged" type gig requiring a highly "modest" effort on their behalf (that is to say an accompanying entourage of 2 as opposed to 100 or 200, relatively little in the way of equipment, stage props and all that bollocks ... etc etc etc. The entire thing would have to "put" to them/a promoter as something they might be interested in doing cos it would be FUN with a capital F ... and that would mean it would be FUN for not only THEM but FUN for US the audience too. To me, that essentially translates to giving them free rein to pretty much f*** about in whichever way they want in something akin to a rehearsal type setting, a setting in which FIRST AND FOREMOSTLY they'd feel comfortable about putting on a warts n' all performance ... with no shortage of warts ! The key would be the FUN element, not the consideration of "remuneration". As soon as the "remuneration" issue assumes place of prominence, the entire idea is as good as dead in the water ... that would be my take on it anyway !!

Anyone ever see that thing ELVIS did on that small stage surrounded on all sides by a small audience ? It was BRILLIANT, it didn't look like it had been particularly rehearsed, there was a lot of banter, a lot of audience interaction, Elvis was totally at ease, the band too ... for a besotted Elvis fan it must have been the DREAM gig.

Maybe, but, for example, here was the set list for the Boston club show in 2002. Maybe more warhorses than I would prefer, but we haven't seen anything like this on ABB.
