If they KNEW they could not grant what they sold, I don´t call this just bad taste, I call it fraud! But I do not think this was the case here, I´m more comfortable thinking they were just too negligent to prepare for this situation.

I did not buy a front seating ticket for Rome because I am rich or because I consider myself so "VIP"; in fact it took me a while to save all that money for a great seating ticket. That is the reason why I really felt cheated. Also it is where the fun stops when you start fearing for your safety because drunk people keep falling from chairs and wrestling for a better view . If you are getting distracted that way, you cannot fully enjoy a show anymore. But luckily this only happened toward the end of the show and nobody got hurt (I think - but maybe some people where just too drunk to realize it)

I don´think this would have happened in England - when I think of Twickenham last year, where the security was all over us the time when somebody just tried moved one inch away from his/her seat. This was quite the the opposite experience for me.
(You can remind me of what I just said if it happens this year ;-))

hey "law and order man" stoneswashed

i don`t wish the situation like in rome, but also not like in frankfurt.

i don`t want to steal any 1 st row ticket.
where is the problem, when everybody is standing at his place??
nobody would be closer or further to the stage.
(ok, the people, who can`t stand 2 hours are a problem, but they have to know, what will be happen) So the idea for a special aera is not the badest, or?)

i know, that we all need rules in our live and i repect this, of course.
but to accept this rules do not mean, that you don`t have to question whether this is reasonable. (i know.. now you will tell me, that`s not practicably that everybody has his own rules. i know)

but i`m not the pedestriany, who`s waiting at the red traffic light monday night.

sorry, heinz_str - i'm probably missing something, as a result of causes, but:
it's not breaking any rules to stand at a rock concert. having an assigned seat means
one is supposed to stay in the immediate vicinity of one's seat, of course,
but there's no rule that anyone has to sit on it.
(obviously for people who can't stand, there should be a special area with a good view,
but that's an entirely different issue. no one should go to a rock & roll show expecting other people to sit.)

Japan, Hawaii and China I think are the only places they do that...

Trust me. We have numbered seats in all football stadiums for years now, but we know damn well that, as a matter of fact, except for the high priced sections, a numbered ticket is worth general admission.

Try buying a "curva" ticket - behind the goals - for a sold out Milan Inter and see what happens when you kindly ask the hooligan sitting on your place to go to his place ...

stoneswashed77 - what is your point? I mean, man - whenether it's seated show or not, bascially it's The Rolling Stones rock'n'roll concert and the music played by them is supposed to move you, you know dance and shout kind of thing. So suggesting anyone to sit during The Rolling Stones show is a bit shitty don't you think?

Re: Security in Frankfurt and Rome

I already said twice that I don´t want to sit at a Stones show.
I am not the one who organized these seated concerts.
So what do you want from me?

All i say is, if it is a seated show, you have to respect it, and you have to accept that people payed for one exact seat, if you like the idea or not.

this whole r&r thing is a little too romantic for me these days and no longer really there, most people don´t dance, jump and scream througout the whole concert.

try a red hot chili peppers or oasis concerts, this is where people always get hurt because the crowd drives crazy. not at stones shows anymore.

so i don´t think it is a huge difference if the crowd sits or stands.

anyway I also don´t like to sit. And i don´t like a lot of people standing still all concert, they could also sit then.

I just love these discussions about the seated pitch. Go on with it.
We have been 13th Row let's say and it was a blast. I agree with BV that I thought it would be much more chaotic. But the Romans behaved quite well once they had found their space at the front. And if people showed up with the tickets for their seats they went back. At least that was the case on our side Ronnies side B. Anyway I just do not believe besides the chaotic situation which was obvious to happen, that such a chaos would work so smoothly in other countries. Anyway those who love FOS and open Pitch I strongly recommend to go to those shows in the countries available. Those who prefer seated pitch choose the variety of countries you have. And don't tell me that you need a lot of money to travel here and there while a lot of you spend much more on booze than on the travel expenses itself. Once again everybody should enjoy a concert to his liking, but he should also respect that there are other fans around him who might enjoy differently. And those cannot be condamned to the back.

I agree with you inasmuch as I will attend no more seated shows except for Hamburg and London this year. Problem was, I was so naive to think this could be a show like London, only because it said "seating" and almost cost as much as London, and to in exchange get the view I paid for without wrestling.
I don´t "condemn" everybody else to the back, but if you are supporting equality at a show then we should have the same price for everyone, and no pseudo-seating tickets at high prices. (Ask the promoters, and good luck!)
Then everybody can see wherever he/she gets (depending on muscles and chuzpe and the mentality of the crowd)
But I don´t want to get too philosophical here...

There is a huge difference. What about the interaction and communication between the band and the audience? How would the band feel if everybody would be sitting? They wouldn't want the audience sitting.

"They wouldn't want the audience sitting."

If they would really care there wouldn´t be seats in the infield.
