I fear that this concert won't be very good because a)first not many tickets sold b)seats on the field? The second is the worst by far.

You mean July 6th. Don't worry. Italy and The Stones. What more can you ask for. Have a giant pepperoni pizza and enjoy the show.

It'll be awsome. We're off to Rome in a few minutes. If the crowd doesn't get up on their seats, screaming and going bananas- like in Madrid and Barcelona, we'll pinch their bums! And set fire to their toupés.

Oh how I envy you people. All those pretty little Italian girls jumping up and down. Mamma Mia. Wish I could be there.

The organization performed by the italian promoter is the worst I've ever witnessed. They just made everything wrong. It will take a rocking performance by the boys to sort all of it out.

looks like not even 30k tickets have been sold (in fact i am probably going to buy it on the spot on friday)
that's good not sad
they will probably put on a "unomaha'd" setlist both for the smaller crowd and considering the concert in Milan last year
also it's good because is a clear message to "whom it may concern"
i will personally going to dance it all thru

Loochie, I'm aware that you probably meant it as a joke, but I suppose that there could be some truth in there. I don't want to go off topic here, but actually for every even slightly educated person who like me lives in Italy it's quite clear that this woud have been a much better country without the Vatican inside.
I hope the boys will rock Rome in order to give us an "emotional rescue".

well, i did say it as a joke --- but after hanging around with a lot of Romani - who make fun of the pope more than anybody smiling smiley, i actually do believe there could be a bit of truth in it ...

I see these posts about every show. "Don't think it will be good..."- "Nobody is coming..." "Everything is chaos..." And so on. But still fact is the shows go on and the crowds are great so most problems never happen. Why worry? Why not wait until after the show, and see it will probably be just great, they play "Con Le Mie Lacrome" again may be, and Rome will be totally fine with the Stones.

Yeah ! That was awesome in Milano, I was singing it in Italian for days afterwards smiling smiley Plus Keith was so hilarious making fun of Mick.

Bjornulf, we are all as confident as you are about the preformance of the boys, but as a matter of fact is quite clear to everybody that nothing - really nothing - has been done by the promoters to make this one a successful event. They doubled ticket prices if compared to last year's; they made almost no promotion; they put seat on the field, which just doesn't fit at all italian way of attending concerts. I think that for us italians there is really large room to complain. We don't worry about the crowd etc, but The Rolling Stones are the best band in the world, and we think that they deserve a better tour promoting.

I hope (I'm being selfish of course) that "con le mie lacrime" in Milano was a once in a lifetime thing.

Re: Italy 6th July

why worry BV?
I read myself an interview with the local promoter where he said that the capacity of the stadium was reduced to 40k but that still less ticket than expected have been sold. So these are facts.
My comment to this facts is above.
Chaos could be simply as that: someone try to sell you expensive tickets for a supposed all seated show but does not give you the chance to actually choose your seat among the available.
Result: i am going to buy it on friday night at the place (if there's any left...)

Why do so many people have always poblems with the pitch seats. The fact is that there are seats now. But why sitting on the seat. Nobody does in Canada or the US or UK and nobody did in Frankfurt. Ok some sat down for Keiths numbers or some did when the stage moved. But what the heck.
Enjoy the show and take you seat and stand up and shout.

bv, i really don't think that we're trying to have one of those whiny threads, but you need to realize that we really have a lot to complain about here smiling smiley Was there ever another Stones show where "Left Side" and "Right Side" were reversed ?! (I don't know - I'm just asking) So it makes it kind of hard to choose your ticket on keith's side or ron's side, especially when they don't even bother to post the stadium map on the website. Anyway, it's been pretty BAD here ! smiling smiley Plus with all the other weird things added, you could almost get the idea that someone is trying NOT to sell so many tickets...

I never thought that the smoking ban in restaurants in Italy would ever been acepted and....??? It is accepted:

Meanwhile, to get there:

Arriving at Termini (Central) station
Take the Linea A underground towards Battistini and get off at Ottaviano; take bus N° 32 and get off at the Piazzale della Farnesina stop.
Or take the Linea A underground towards Battistini and get off at Flaminio; take trolley line N° 225 and get off at the end of the line (Piazza Mancini).

Pffff,,,,Taxi maybe?
However, my underground stop is Barberini

F**kin A, I will second that one -- the Italian, specifically the Roman women are the BEST I saw in Europe.

Was just in Rome on the 20-22 of June and man, my tongue was hangin down to the ground.

I don't like the whole "all seated" thing. Not at all. But, on the other hand, i believe that every gig's atmosphere depends basically on the mood of the crowd. Do an "all seated" gig in Argentina: the crowd will be crazy, as usual! Biggest problem is the prices. In relation to the huge venue. If i remember correctly, in 1990 the Stones had played in a much smaller stadium, "Stadio Flamino". And the stadium wasn't packed. When? On first band's visit in Italy after 8 years... Now they are visiting Italy for third time since 2003, sellecting Olympic Stadium and charging "crazy" prices... The tactics of local promorer seem unexplainable. Anyway, if the real capacity is now ("all seated" plan + stage's potition) about 40,000 - 45,000, maybe stadium's picture will be decent, on the big day. Let's see.

Finally, i can't be there. Too busy these days. Drink one beer to "hard working people" like me (not exactly, to be honest...) and enjoy the concert!

3 shows in 5 years is not that much. But as you write tactics is fine when the strategy is OK. In any case, the latter has been working fine up to the Autumn of 2006. Anyway, they are not that many bands who could gather in Rome an audience of 30,000. Go ahead Keith.
