European dates with the Rolling Stones 29 06 07
We are pleased to announce The Charlatans will be supporting the Rolling Stones at the following shows this summer.

JULY
17 - Lia Manoliu Stadium, Bucharest, Romania
20 - Pukas Ferenc Stadium, Budapest, Hungary
22 - Outdoor Exhibition Centre, Brno, Czech Republic

AUGUST
18 - Slane Castle, Co Meath, Ireland

I saw them support the Stones at Hampden Park, Glasgow last August and they were top notch. A big act in their own right.

Great! They did a good job at Twickenham and in Glasgow.

That's a blast from the past. They must have a 20 year rolling contract to support the Stones every time they go on the Road.
Decent band though if you like that kind of thing [I don't, but at least they've been around and paid their dues]

As far as I know, the first time they opened for the Stones was at the second Twickenham show last year.

News is on their website. I'm a great fan of the Charlatans have seen them about 15 times. Great live band. Their Rolling Stones shows to indifferent fans don't do them justice. Go and see them in a smallish place like Brixton Academy for a great show.

I've nothing against them as such, but I seem to be seeing them too often now. Saw them supporting the Stones last year, the Who last month and now will see them in Slane. Is it written somewhere that stadium gigs should have the Charlatans or Pretenders as support?!

The Pretenders opened at 8 of the US shows in 2002 and 6 of the European shows in 2003.
The Charlatans have (as far as I know) only opened at two shows, Twickenham 2 and Glasgow last year. Tim Burgess (of The Charlatans) opened in Manchester and at one of the Wembley Arena shows in 2003.
