Fabulous! Emotional!

I'm home now. For the first time second row in front of the main stage. Now or never.

Mick only said thank you in English once or twice. Everything else was in Portuguese. He Knows a lot now. He even presented Lisa and Charlie in Portuguese.

They surprised us with the presence of our fado singer Ana Moura. Very emotional. She was delighted as well as Mick. I'm going to see her with The Rolling Stones Project tomorrow.

Keith received a great great ovation. I Got the Silver was brillant and then he said he was going to sing I Wanna Hold You and announced «that's what I want to do», meaning he would like to hold us. I love yoy Keith, thank you. Don't worry people, he's fine, just a little bit older and at the end he was gesturing to his hands and shaking them like they were all burned out. It's new on his catalogue of poses. And he was smiling, smiling... very happy indeed and his playing was very good.

A great ovation also for Ron Wood. Brillant on CYHMK as well as Mick and Bobby.

They were all very satisfied with the show. What more can I say? As usual they did their best and it was in fact the best show so far.

Hey Stickydion don't waste your time. You can't win an argument against someone who won't look at things logically. I'd like to see TooTough get a band together and sell one ticket at the price of fifty cents. Whiner.

Just for all of you to see how stupid is the portuguese national TV. The journalist said on the report about the concert that the portuguese singer sang a song called No Expectations from the album....Brown Sugar...released in 2006. Can you believe it? Just sent a comment to those stupid bastards who cant even check on google.

Divine show ... personal highlights were:

No Expectations, as good a version as anyone could wish to hear live.

Yet another scorching rendition of CYHMK, they have this song down 100 percent - no version that they have yet to play on what remains of this tour will disappoint, at least not if it's anything like what they've played to date.

Tumbling Dice and Brown Sugar yet AGAIN - if only for one Mr Keith Richards' insane enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment at being up there ... Brown Sugar was one of those versions where it was apparent that they simply didn't want to end it. Totally blissful, and a joy to behold.

In Portugal we have a saying that goes like this " É como o vinho do Porto, quanto mais velho melhor" In a rough translation it goes like this " Its like Oporto wine, the older the better!
The Stones yesterday were like the best vintage wine in the world, that you can taste once and behold the memory once. It was my best concert EVER!maybe the fact that the band had their first diner alltogether in 8 yaers maybe helped! today you could read reports about that in all major portuguese newspapers. They dinned in a restaraunt called Bacalhau de Molho while the all band watched and listened to Ana Moura singing the Fado, which end up with an invitation to perform with them later on!
About the show...UNFORGATABLE....
Mick was not afraid to show how he was enjoyng the show!! Dancing, teasing and charming the audience with naugthy smiles to all of us, but most important singing like his life depend on it...just amazing. His duet with Lisa on Ill Go Crazy( with a provocative dancing and ending with a big hug) made all the band looking at them, Specialy Bernard and Keith were laughing!!
Keith... well Keith was something born in between God and Devil!!
He was possessed !! I could his grin smile and anger a few times playing full of Joy!So Please STOP all this nonosense rumours and stories about Keith!! He was just great!! Ron was making the best solos of the night( CYHMK f.ex) his guitar was heavy and loud on She so Cold! Charlie was just amazing too !
Highlits for me:
Meeting some of the IORReans that I have the pleasure of reading some of their reviews. It was an enjoyable afternoon in downtown Lisbon with marquess, Gazza, Mary, Paulwally. Jimmy. Cap Jack and his son.
No Expectations!!! A song mostly played in club gigs, got their baptism on a stadium, but not only that ,but also we got a chance to see a rare blend of rock and fado. and it worked for me!!!
Bitch...Can't You Hear Me Knocking ... Tumbling Dice ( it was beautiful to see keith kissing the guitar in the end)...Paint It Black...Brown Sugar( with Mick running towards the audience , from where the usually the b stage goes to the until the end of the trail, and then just in front of me Jagger and Richard , i swear that they exchange smiles to each other....oh and I almost forgt, two beautifull girls screaming next to me every time that Jagger appeared on our side ( Ronnie side)
I understand why Gazza was crying...he wasn t the only one

If I may allow myself some cut & paste from our friend from Belfast:

"Only my comments via Egon by text. I thought they were REALLY good. I didnt notice any deterioration from last summerºs shows. If keith Richards has had a stroke, then sign me up for two of them please.

He was having a great time, smiling, grinning, playing to the crowd throughout. Running to the wings on Tumbling Dice, doing his little kicks, etc. Both him and Ronnie sounded fine (actually, scratch that, Ronnie was terrific). Mick missed acouple of cues here and there, but was his usual self. Charlie as of this afternoon is now officially the greatest man alive.

Personal highlights were a version of CYHMK with Woody on top form, the lovely surprise of No Expectations and as good a version of Tumbling Dice as Ive heard in years.

As for keith's set. he didnt play gtr on You got the silver, but shuffled over behind Ronnie during it as if he was going to grab his ass. He sang it beautifully. On wanna Hold You he just really played the solo, but his vocal on it was fine."

and t h i s :

"where the hell is Egon with the pics we sent him this afternoon?

Mary and I ended up at the Stones hotel around 3.30 pm. Left around 4 hours later and about 90 Euro poorer after a few drinks, but with the pain of open wallet surgery somewhat eased by having met, chatted with and been photographed with Blondie, then Chuck and finally Sir Charles Robert Watts.

Needless to say we were so happy we could shit.

Charlie was terrific. He spotted my George Best t shirt, asked me if I knew him and then started telling me what a nice guy he was.

Blondie and Chuck were very pleasant too and very easy to chat to.

Oh, and Lisbon is a fantastic city. Amazing nightlife L(the place only really gets going at around 2 am! And that was on a Monday night!)"

--------And from YouGotToRollMe at RO:
"What a @#$%& show last night, Keith was dancing around Woody during You Got The Silver and selling the song like an old vaudevillian, and playing guitar like a madman during the rest of the show."

Ron, Ana Moura, Keith

Thanks Peter Pan @ [rocksoff.org]

I think Keith shouldn't wear that little crown - it belongs to Ana Moura

I need to chime in here about the Tim Ries Rolling Stones project that I went to last night, in the company of the good Mr Jimmy and Marquess. This was an absolute delight. It was held in the Cinema Sao Georges on Ave Liberdad (excuse spelling ... it's probably incorrect), a lovely old building that judging by the photos in the lobby has an old and fine tradition.

Ana Moura came on and performed No Expectations once again, together with a couple of Fado numbers. Outstanding ballads sung by Bernard were Wild Horses and Ruby Tuesday, and the most sublime guitar work from 2 Fado guitarists from Lisbon was to be heard on Brown Sugar ... the first time the Tim Ries project has performed this song.

I can THOROUGHLY recommend you catch the Tim Ries Rolling Stones project in whichever city you can, the interpretations of these great songs ... and notably Bernards's vocals, are a treat. And even if jazz "ain't quite your THANG", you will at the very least come away with a possibly enhanced appreciation of the songwriting genius of one Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Those boys have written some absolute peaches ... as if we need reminding !!

Don't miss !!
