While the scenic Spanish city San Sebastian were cloudy and a bit cold last night, the sun is shining and presenting the city from it's best sides to the fans for the show tonight. The stage is there, as you can see from the photo.

Los Rolling se quedan en Donostia
Sonrientes, discretos y cada uno en un coche llegaban al hotel María Cristina, a las seis y cuarto de la tarde de ayer, los cuatro Rolling Stones y su séquito.

Sonrientes, discretos, cada uno en su coche y sin ninguna expectación a la entrada del hotel, llegaron al María Cristina a las seis y cuarto de la tarde de ayer, los cuatro componentes de los Rolling Stones, con su séquito. Sólo tres quinceañeras, que acabaron obteniendo un autógrafo del mismísimo Keith Richards, y un par de personas que pasaban por allí, asistieron al breve momento en que se dejaron ver sus majestades, nada satánicas, y sí afables y sonrientes.

Mick Jagger, con sencilla y clásica camisa azul, hizo un cariñoso saludo con la mano. Charlie Watts, con chaquetilla chandalera, sonreía sujetando en su mano una postal de San Sebastián. Ron Wood iba algo más serio, detrás de Keith Richards, pero se contagió de la risa del pirata, que como siempre, fue el más llamativo. Ataviado con una cazadora con la bandera inglesa en el frente y la iniciales de Gran Bretaña en una manga, Richards se lanzó enseguida a firmar un autógrafo a las tres únicas chicas que estaban ahí para solicitarlo. Ellas le dieron su libreta y le hicieron una foto con el móvil. No se lo creían.

Enseguida entraron los cuatro en el interior del hotel y se dirigieron a sus suites. Unos minutos después, el atento personal del hotel se ponía en marcha de nuevo para recibir al autobús en el que venían los otros músicos y los asistentes de las estrellas, más de 40 personas en total.

El avión había llegado minutos después de las cinco y media de la tarde al aeropuerto de Biarritz. Cuatro coches oscuros, dos pequeñas furgonetas y un autobús eran los vehículos de una empresa donostiarra que les esperaban desde hora y media antes de la llegada del enorme avión. Cuando se acercaba la hora del aterrizaje, los vehículos entraron en la pista y se acercaron casi hasta la escalerilla. Los cuatro componentes de los Rolling bajaron mezclados con el resto de la troupe, Jagger con un jersey que luego se quitó en el coche. Cada uno de ellos entró en su vehículo y la comitiva salió rápidamente hacia San Sebastián.

Las peticiones para los coches no tenían nada especial. Sólo aguas y pañuelos de papel. Mick Jagger es el único que había pedido que hubiera algo más en el vehículo: una libreta, lápices y caramelos Fisherman's. La organización del Festival de Jazz se encarga de coordinar los movimientos de la banda y su equipo en la ciudad, en contacto con la organización de los Rolling.

Dos tercios del hotel

Los Stones se van a quedar al parecer dos noches en el hotel y se irán de Donostia el domingo. Han reservado dos terceras partes del hotel María Cristina, 72 habitaciones y suites. Es un lugar bien conocido por la banda británica, pues ya pernoctaron en él en 1998 cuando iban a actuar en Bilbao en un concierto que finalmente se suspendió, y en la noche previa a su concierto en Santiago de Compostela en 1999.

Como en anteriores ocasiones, nada estaba planificado ayer para la estancia de los Rolling. En las otras ocasiones, estuvieron más bien recluidos en las habitaciones, aunque Keith Richards bajó a un establecimiento del Boulevard de madrugada y Mick Jagger visitó el restaurante Akelarre. Y bien que le debió de gustar, porque ayer mismo pidió ir a cenar de nuevo al restaurante de Igeldo, que ahora tiene tres estrellas. Ron Wood, por su parte, eligió el restaurante Berasategi del Kursaal para cenar. Otros miembros del equipo, nada más llegar, pidieron algo para comer y desde la cafetería del hotel les subieron frutas diversas, queso, pintxos y arroz con leche.

Mientras tanto, en el estadio de Anoeta se ultimaban ayer por la tarde los trabajos de montaje del escenario. «A las once de la noche estará todo terminado de montar», explicaba el responsable de producción de Rock Star, Joseba Iribar, que se mostraba satisfecho porque «todo ha ido según lo previsto y sin problemas». En la mañana de hoy, llega el backline, los monitores y los instrumentos de los Rolling, y estará dedicada a las pruebas de sonido.

San Sebastian is one of the nicest city in Spain if not the most. Highly recommended is "La Concha" beach. There area thousands of small "tascas" to eat great at a reasonable price. Expensive restaurants are not a MUST any more !

I'm leaving from Bilbao to San Sebastián right now!!

the pic of Mick is taken with the beach behind, a beautiful beach called the CONCHA, where you can have a nice walk.
Last year I saw the international fireworks contest there, it was amazing : 40000 or 50000 people on and along the beach. very nice people who like enjoy !

I am sure the band is having a nice time there !
I was supposed to attend the show but I will not.

I went to this city more than once..its beautifull....i did get lost..so watch it...have a good time tonight!

F**k, now I hate the fact that Brussels airlines doesn't have a flight to San Sebastian. Here I'm sitting, nothing beter to do. Could have been there.

Yesterday I was having lunch at the Boquerias market in Barcelona and shared a table with this couple from Miami with whom we talked about the BCN concert and how they were flying later to Bilbao to get to San Seabstian....Now back in Paris I was watching the basque channel and they were interviewed outisde Anoeta...Was so great to see them again just waiting to get in the stadium.

For all attending I just hope that the show will be the best ever...Have fun
