Brian Johnson & Cliff Williams of Ac/DC recorded a new song, doesn't sound bad at all.

Listen to my new album on www.bowemusic.nl!

If I hadn't read the about the song otherwise, I would have sworn I heared Malcolm and Angus Young's guitars on that recording.

very AC/DC indeed.
not bad

as a diehard DC fan i came across this a while back. great to see/hear Brian & Cliff shaking off the dust but its a poor song. sounds like a SUL period leftover to my ears

still. its better than nothing

if only Angus & Malcolm could be tempted out of hibernation!

Brian and Cliff are touring the US this summer as part of Classic Rocks Cares, to raise funds for the John Entwistle Foundation. Here's a description:

Chain Gang On The Road, by Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, Steve Luongo & Mark Hitt.

AC / DC bassist Cliff Williams and former John Entwistle Band drummer Steve Luongo met at a hurricane relief concert produced by the John Entwistle Foundation in 2005. The year that followed found Cliff and Steve jamming together when the opportunity arose. In 2007 they were joined in the studio by guitar virtuoso Mark Hitt and AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson for a bit of fun. In the months that followed this group of musicians did what all musicians do. They wrote and recorded music together. In the spring of 2007 Cliff and Brian agreed to lend their talents to a fund raising tour dubbed Classic Rock Cares. The proceeds from the tour will go to the foundation.s primary mission of free music education and instruments for underprivileged children through the public library system. It was decided that in addition to their AC/DC hits Cliff and Brian would perform some new material as well. Chain Gang On The Road is a sample of what people can expect in addition to the AC/DC hits. There was never a plan for this music and the only plan currently is to enjoy performing it while helping those in need.

An Evening of "Classic Rock" Hits performed by,

Brian Johnson & Cliff Williams of AC/DC – Mark Farner formerly of Grand Funk Railroad – Joe Lynn Turner of Deep Purple/Rainbow – Steve Luongo of The John Entwistle Band

The John Entwistle Foundation ... all proceeds go towards the purchase of cocaine, hookers, vintage wine and outlandishly large English mansions. Sorry, I couldn't resist!

The rumours have been flying about for years. Hopefully this time they are true. I have come to the conclusion that they have retired, but I could be wrong. I'm a huge fan btw. I flew from Scotland to New York just to stand outside the Waldorf when they got inducted into the Hall of Fame a few years ago - it was worth every penny. I was wearing a Scotland football top and waving the Saltire. When Malcolm passed us I shouted "Hey Malcolm, welcome to Scotland". He chuckled and gave me the thumbs up. Its the little things that mean a lot!
Oh and I met my wife at an AC/DC convention 3 years ago.

One rumour is that they owe the old record label 1 more album and are reluctant to do it for them, as they have a new deal they prefer

I always thought AC/DC was a band that would carry on forever. Wonder what they´ve been doing all these years. Seems strange if a controversy with a record label is the reason for their silence.

The thing with AC/DC is that you just never know. They are so private. I think personally that Angus just doesnt want to do it anymore. They used to work like trojan horses - 2 albums a year, incessant touring - 73 until the late 80's they never took a break. These days they all live in different parts of the world (much like the Stones). Apparently they were all recording together in London a couple of years ago - but who knows. I have read interviews and snippets from Brian, Cliff and Phil all saying they want to tour again - so clearly the issue is with the Young brothers.
The rumours flying about here again are about gigs in Slane and possibly headlining next years Download Festival (on their old Donnington stomping ground). I'll be first in line if it happens.

i recall reading something over two years ago from brian johnson that the band had been recording and had so much good new stuff that they would be putting out a double album... i think i read that in 2005, and i have been waiting for it ever since

I hear the Keith Moon Foundation has a similar proceed donation: women, liquor, horse tranquilizers, cars and other crazy purchases!

"2 albums a year, incessant touring - 73 until the late 80's they never took a break"

i don't ever remember many two albums a year periods personally. apart from the first two and when IYWB came out

75 High Voltage & TNT - Australian versions
76 High Voltage (the Euro version that paired the best bits from the Australian TNT & High Voltage albums from 1975)
76 Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
77 Let There Be Rock
78 Powerage - the greatest rock n roll album EVER!
78 If You Want Blood - Live Album
79 Highway To Hell
80 Back In Black
81 For Those About To Rock
83 Flick Of The Switch
85 Fly On The Wall
88 Blow Up Your Video
90 The Razors Edge
95 Ballbreaker
00 Stiff Upper Lip

i've left out Who Made Who, Live & Jailbreak 74 as they weren't really worth including

what is obvious from that list is they released ALL of the classic Bon era albums and the mighty Back In Black in less time than its been since SUL and now

unfuckingbelieveable!

1/ A new double DVD with really live rare stuff in the end of the year

2 The battle between Warner and Sony, core of the delay, overthe hump

3/ Back in Studio this summer, Australia, Sydney, new album (Sony) early 2008.

Totally agree about Powerage. That and Exile are my all time favourite two albums. Powerage is Keefs fav too. It still sound so fresh, and lyrically Bon was just untouchable on that one:
"I know that it's evil
I know that its got to be
Know I ain't doin' much
Doin nothing means a lot to me"

Wouldn't it be great if they got those production values back. Then again Vanda/Young were also behind the shittily produced "Blow up..." album!

Powerage is AC/DC's best album, and one of the greatest, rawest rock'n'roll records ever, period. Bon was really a great blue-collar poet with heart and a wickedly good sense of humor. Very underrated as a lyricist.

I thought George Young (Ang and Mal's older brother) did a solid job on Stiff Upper Lip.

There were also rumors of AC/DC re-uniting with Mutt Lange for one more album, but I hope that doesn't happen...nothing against Mutt (H2H, BIB and FTATR all sound fabulous), but that time in history is long past.

Keep it raw and real, I say.

That's the thing...they are extremely private, to the point of frustration. It would be nice if they told their fans SOMETHING. Christ...seven years with no album and no tour (save for a few scattered shows with the Stones). Just give us a little update PLEASE!

But, at the same time, they've got no ego, and there's no rockstar bullshit. I've met Angus, Mal and Phil, and all three were extremely quiet and friendly, dressed in regular jeans and t-shirts.

It was shocking that these unassuming, working-class blokes were members of the fifth highest-selling band of ALL-TIME.

I mean...think about that. They're up there with the Beatles, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Eagles.

AC/DC are the fifth biggest selling band in the US according to RIAA. Not sure where they would fit in world wide, probably still way up there.
I'm a huge AC/DC fan and I always find it ironic that everyone says Powerage is their favorite album, yet I believe it's the poorest seller of the Bon era!

couldn't care less if it sold 33 copies. its still the greatest album ever

was great to see the band digging out some of the tunes from it on the SUL & Stones gigs too

now what they need to do is bring back Riff Raff and all will be well in the world :-)

we've heard it all before though. and nobody has yet come up with any proof that the contract thing is true or not

and it doesn't explain why they've decided to go into hibernation. record or not they could still be touring

personally i think its down to either ill health (nobody has seen Mal since 2003) or they've finally realised the creative juices are completely dried up

it happens to the best of em

It's possible...all five members are chain smokers. There were rumors that Malcolm was in ill health when SUL came out, which turned out to be false, as anyone who saw them in 2000 or 2003 can attest.

Who knows? I fear that we will only get news from them if the worst ends up happening. They are fanatical about their privacy.

I was thrilled that AC/DC finally gave this album some recognition on their last few tours...Up To My Neck In You, Riff Raff, Gone Shooting, Down Payment Blues...great stuff.

I'm with you guys on Powerage. I wouldn't call it the best album of all time. But Damn good.........Gone Shootin is a GREAT song.
