Mathijs said this a while ago about the relative weights of Keith's instruments:
>> A regular Tele is around 6.5 to 7 pounds, any ES-335/ES355 is between 9 and 10 pounds
(especially with the Bigsby and Grovers, they add up). A Les Paul is around the 9 punds,
but at Gibson's Custom Shop they can choose the wood and make them around 8 pounds. ...
I bet his Tele Custom is close to 9 pounds, as is his '55 Butterscotch Tele.
He even used the old Dan Armstrong again: 12 pounds. And again, the ES-355 is not a lightweight guitar. <<
that's in this thread here if you want the whole context: [

which is the "55 butterscotch Tele", by the way - isn't Micawber usually said to be a 52? although it varies :E
i recall an interview last year where Keith was saying one of his butterscotch Teles
is seriously heavy, but he didn't specify which one he meant, and if i recall right
the kind patient learned iorr guitar experts couldn't sort it out either.
but anyway, the tree i'm trying to bark up is: i wonder if weight could have something to do with
Keith using the 67 sunburst Tele on Happy now? if i'm following Mathijs right,
that one would be considerably lighter than the Teles we've gotten used to seeing him with on Happy.
update: just watched some video clips from Paris, and Keith used the black custom Tele for Happy there,
so that's another good theory shot to hell! i love it when he does that :E
>> the yellow Les Paul special <<
it's a Junior - technically the model is (or was, originally) called a Les Paul TV,
which is a Junior with the "TV yellow" finish, designed to show up well on black & white television.
same as the doublecut Junior he uses on Rambler.
