AMAZING !! a SHOCK !!

I just come back from LYON. What a show !!
Definately one of the 4 best shows I have seen with OLYMPIA 95, PARIS 2006, LONDON sept 15, 2003.

the dreamed setlist, Mick better than saturday; Keith the king.

All songs perfectly played.

Huge energy and envy.

If this is my very last Stones show, I will have no regrets, I am now satisfied !!

More comments, videos and photos to download later. I need to get down on earth first !

Blub.

I'm awake. Yes. What a show. What a ride. What a night. We were back in Vilvoorde from Lyon (770 km.) in 6 hours flat. THX Kriske. Je veux bien, mais...

I don't know about IOW show because I wasn't there, but Lyon was of the 5 shows I saw this year in the Eurozone by far the greatest show.

You got the silver, I only saw it played ones (Wembley 1999 I think).

So this was my first part of the second European leg of the Rolling Stones Bigger Bang World tour 2005-2006-2007.
5 down, 5 to go. I'll be back for my second part in Oslo on August 8th.

Yes. A damned real shock after Paris . You stole my " Keith : King of Lyon" to "Keith the King". What a show. Sad we did not meet there. It will take some times to get down on earth after those magic 2 hours.

Well... it was so good to see them in my hometown in a place i'm used to see (good) football !
Keith seemed completely lost at the beginning but recovered after two or three songs to give a wonderful performance. He was simply amazing on "You got the silver"... so much emotion (and such a clear voice). Mick was on top, Ronnie was brilliant (and a real support when Keith needed help) and Charlie was as good as usual.
Great versions of Let it bleed, Monkey man, Midnight rambler and JJF. Some problems with Mick's microphone on the B-stage...

Magical. Simply the best concert I've ever seen.

Even if you do not speak the language of Molière or Sartre, the report of the local newspaper, wellknown in France. It is for most part self explanatory.

Great to hear that Keith was in top form. I am not sure that I can wait until August for the 3 shows at the O2. Hmm . . . . I wonder if I can go to New York via St. Petersburg . . . .

Nice little interview (and pic) with Jumacfly & Egon (who brought us the "live" pix and cam shots last night) from Rocks Off in the same newspaper

great photos, everyone. Nice to see such a wide consensus that this was a great show.

I'm looking forward for the bootlegs of the best dry outdoor concert i've seen by the Stones. This is in my RS concert top 5 of all times.

By the way: The Gerland stadium was super for a concert for 25.000 people. Perfect, like Nice 2006 but without the beach tourists, just locals.

What is so wonderful about this thread is that we have a CONSENSUS of opinion about the LYON show. Beast and I were texting Gazza the setlist throughout and were simply unable to stop ourselves from punctuating the various messages with expressions of delirious joy and excitement with respect to what was unfolding in front of us. I personally am so glad to note that what WE heard and saw was so too similarly heard and seen by others in attendance. This show really did exhibit the Rolling Stones at their most magnificent at this point in their long career ... it was simply bloody awesome.

Hey bartfrombrussels - I just noticed your signature. Were you holding up the sign in Lyon saying "remember vilvoorde"?!

Lyon ranks as one of my top Stones shows. The unfolding of that setlist was unbelievable and the playing matched it perfectly. Jagger's moves in MR were something to behold and Keith's rendition of You Got the Silver far outshone the other times I've heard it live. As well as anything else I've ever heard him do.

Did anyone in Paris see Keith pick up a red and yellow scarf (?) that was thrown onto the stage? He spent ages trying to stuff it into his pocket without success but finally managed. It looked as if he had whatever it was slung round one of his belt tags last night in Lyon. Just wondering if anyone was close enough on either night to see what it was exactly?

Sorry no. But I remember the episode of the red and yellow scarf in Paris, with Stones tongues, isn't.
Give me tons of this MR, TD,RJ,IORR,MM, JJF. I still can hear Keith singing his "Love In Vain". Not the case in Lyon anyway.

open-g, your pic shows some kids - or very young persons- in the audience. Was there a notable part of young people?
