nope and that's why it's gonna be a great performance...no room to hide, pose or cheerlead...just stand there close to each other and put it out...and they will...

So are the Stones going to play a full set or just a partial one?

It would be great if they used it as a B stage and just the 4 of them plus bass played all accustic numbers and down to their roots blues but I don't think it will happen, they'll do their usual set.

Wish I was there!

will this be televised in the UK? or in Europe?
is there any way, or any where, one in the states might stream the stones set from some tv channel or other kind of site or link? etc???
would love to see it...LOVE to...if it's bein' televised, maybe someone could upload to youtube real quick too??? would love' to see a bit of the euro tour any way i can...would be so cool...enjoyin' the youtube clips, euro fans are great at that...gettin' 'em shot and up; so impressed...and it's very much appreciated...the clips often look great and r focused on the big screen so u get really close and thass way cool; to get close and not only read reports...whooo ty.
.....but an actual steadycam kinda televised thing would be too cool to hope for?, with a good soundboard mix hubba hubba??...thing is, i haven't done enough research on IOW these last many years, i'm ignorant yank as to much of the latter day traditions and executions...i know it looks so very beautiful there...and that it's a grand tradition and special event...but don't really know how, or if, they go about broadcasting it...if it's considered special, or 'safe' enough for 'mainstream' or indie market broadcast...yadda yadda etc..., or made available to a market in t.v. media in the first place??
grateful for any info at all re: this, ty from pacific time zone u.s.a.

There are some highlights on channel 4 UK sunday night, thats all I know of so far, that will be of the whole of Sundays performers and not just the stones.

When the Stones were confirmed for the IOW my first comments around here were of how interesting it would be to see them peform outside the structure of their own massive touring production.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Like Beely said, no room to hide or screens to pose for.

I fail to see how this is much different. If there are no screens there's lots of people who won't be able to see anything. And how is there no room to hide on that stage? It's not like Keith climbs up under the lights on the ABB stage if he has a bad night. It's not much different.

Big open stage:
--------------------
IOW Stage: Yes
ABB Stage: Yes

Screens:
--------------------
IOW Stage: No
ABB Stage: Yes

Room to hide:
--------------------
IOW Stage: No
ABB Stage: No

In my mind the ABB stage has the upper hand. I'd rather have a screen than not (For a gig this size).

There are screens on both sides of the IoW stage.

Apparently, it is actually quite small at the IOW and you get a great view even if you are towards the back.......according to our IORR reporters on location there...

It sure doesn't look small. It looks bigger than the Driving Rain and '04 Summer Tour Paul McCartney stages to me.
So there are screens too? Well, then they will pose the shite out of everything according to some people on here.

It reminds me a bit of the stage they used in Bergen last year.

What Beely and I mean is that the absence of their own stage, screen and choreo puts their (keith and ronnie especially) focus on the music. No big screen to pose for.

The hiding on stage argument I don't get either.

'
I think what is mean't by 'Hiding on the stage' is that with their large bigger Bang stage and other touring stages these are built for large stadiums so people can look at the stage and special effects, ie lighting, inflatables and fire breathing dragons (voodoo lounge tour). With this IOW stage it is just a stage so the stones will be the main focus, nothing else for people to look at. Should be good.

Choreo? As in choreography? Apart from placing themselves on the b-stage when it goes out I don't think they plan anything. They just go out there and do their stuff.

i think the means that all of the affects - the lighting, fireworks, pyro et.c - can serve to distract people from the music being played. and he's right.

*and i'm just like that bird - singing just for you*

>> They just go out there and do their stuff. <<

i reckon there's more to it than that, Kent.
not every minute, but there are definitely times when the mobile ones need to know where to be
to avoid kicking each other, getting in each others' way, etc.; plus there are moments like I Go Wild (that was cool!)
or that sweet Glimmer Moment during Midnight Rambler.

i'm not that sure i see the logic in thinking an unfamiliar environment will be less distracting than a familiar one.
but have some popcorn anyway

Just got a message from Pauly Waul and Beast:

"We are FOS Keith's side, having ran like s**t at the time of opening the gates at 12.00 noon. There is a catwalk (est 50-60 yards in length) and a B Stage. The Stones are due to play between 20.45 and 23.00. Weather is perfect (25 degrees) and there is a bright blue sky. Wish you were all here!"

Sounds like they're enjoying themselves!
