I think Exile On Mainstreet is the only official album I've listened to this week........besides the Grateful Dead's Reckoning which I bought today.

I've been listening to boots lately and have so many new shows that they're all I've been listening to.

hey adotulipson,

if you want to be pleasantly surprised, but not overwhelmed then yeah its a good bet. i find its a very relaxing, mellow album-perfect if you've had a tiring day or youre stressed- i find Ferry's voice has a world weary quality about it these days. its fairly slick production wise, but its still human...some lovely subtle guitar work from Chris Spedding and Leo Abrahams, and Oliver Thompson gets to stretch out a bit on All Along the Watchtower, which is actually a pretty damn good version- drawing on Hendrix (how could they not) but adding something else into the mix- a bit of Ferry's own personal class. the musicians are all in top form, there's some great violin work on Positively 4th Street and Andy Newmark's drumming is perfect for the record. just keep an open mind i say- Ferry is Ferry, and he is bound not to put on a gruff Dylan like voice and make all the recordings sound rough and ready- his trademark nowadays is polished performance so its worth giving a shot!

It's actually playing right now. It's an allright record, but it doesn't really do it for me.
I dunno...I'll understand if people cherish Dylanesque, but I guess I'm too into Dylan to really like that easy approach on his songs...it's pop music
