Maybe Lars thought they should get down on their knees and hail the guys in Metallica?

I'm sure there are at least two different versions of the story here. And something tells me that Lars Ullrich interpreted this the worst way possible...

If they cannot behave normally at all times, I'd rather the Stones behave normally with their fans (as they have been doing in Brussels the last few days, signing for fans, waving and smiling) than with fellow rock stars.

You are right gwen. I think they know how to interact with fans better than they do other rock stars.

someone seemed amazed that Mick signed an autograph

why should that be a surprise to anyone ? how hard is it to stop. take a pen and write your name ?

its hardly hard work. yet some feel they should be grateful that they make the 'effort'

Well, I have met personally James and Kirk of Metallica and hanged out with them a little while and they are very cool guys.
They love the Stones. We discussed open tunings and other things.
I think the Stones couldn't care less about them, not out of disrespect, but simply because they are on a completely different dimension.
We're talking about guys that have met presidents, royalties, rock n' roll's aristochracy, read anybody from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin, so from their perspective Metallica is just another band that happened in the early 90's and that they probably they ain't that much into and/or don't know much about.
If I were Lars, I'd be just happy about having opened for them once, as Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue was, and take it, in a pretty much outstanding music career, as another career high.
Gotta give credit to him, him being known as a prick, that he can tella funny story.

Yeah. But remember it's only LIKE a rolling stone. Not exactly A rolling stone. smiling smiley
I watched Some Kind Of Monster and I liked it. It's very good in my opinion. What I get from it is that my country man Lars Ulrich is the jerk in the band. He's just so lame with his wannabe arguments against James Hetfield.

How hard is it to stop and pose for a picture with a band that helped you sell out 2 nights at a 50,000 seat stadium?

Yes - I was surprised (not amazed) simply because it doesn't happen really often these days. It's not hard to do but it makes somebody happy, yet not everybody does it. And Mick doesn't do it often.

There are many things, every day, that I could do, that are not hard to do, don't take much time and would make somebody happy. Like washing the dishes, taking the garbarge out, giving a euro here and there to beggars. I don't do it all the time.

Mick was right they way he treated Metallica. Mick's pants alone are worth more than all of Metallica's clothing combined. Who knows what Metallica came in contact with over the last 8 hours. Bacteria takes time to grow. Shaking hands with James and Lars could be a bad lesson for Mick in bateria collection.

but don't you have a job to do all day to earn money ?

that doesn't apply to someone whos job is to stand on stage for 2 hours, maybe 3 times a week max. how hard is that ?

there is no excuse for it. its just @#$%& lazy, bullshit. and another reason why i just can't be arsed with em anymore. its pathetic

Maybe Mick is still pissed that he has to pay to use Napster now. I know I am.

That is the way they do meet and greets! I was part of two of these calls we did shake hands will all 4 "hi i'm keith" stuff like that, you are told to not talk to them! then when the photo is about to be taken they all shift and you get a nice picture of some peoples foreheads and stuff. lucky for me i did get quality time with charlie at his solo show and got to talk to him as i have an orgianl copy of ode to a high flying bird and he was impressed! (got good time with Bill once at an book signing)

Jagger hasn't been the nicest guy in that occasion, but i can't see such a bad-treatment..Only being asked to open for the Stones is a HUGE honor, they actually got. And you don't give such a life-time occasion to someone you disrespect or hate. And then, I mean, supposing it was the first time they ever met, why Mick shoud have acted like they were old friends? Maybe Lars thinks Mick should have done so, just cuz he's famous? I have never done that two minutes meet the band with the Stones, but i dont think Mick start jumping, shouting and kissing everyone..

you do if they help shift a few multiple thousand tickets for you. like Metallica did. don't forget they're more than capable of filling stadiums themselves

Bottom line is:

I don't care who you are or who you think you are - be nice to other people and don't walk all over them

Come on - we're Stones fans but that don't mean we have to support every move or statement they make. Just stop to consider what would happen if they supported the war in Iraq??

It is messed up because its not like Metallica asked for the photo to be arranged, it was a suprise them. The stones were being condescending about it.

Well like somebody said earlier, there's two sides to this story. For all we know, somebody popped into Mick's room and said "Metallica wants a pic".

Not taking sides or anything, but Lars is not the most well liked or respected person. All we heard was Lars side of the story, and there are other perspectives to consider.

A couple of weeks ago, I took a message to my boss. He was trying to wise crack and be funny and I had people waiting on me so I delivered the message and didn't stay to bullshit with him. Later he asked somebody else why I was so grumpy. I wasn't in a bad mood or grumpy or hateful or whatever, I just didn't have time to laugh at his not-funny jokes. His interpretation was that I was in a bad mood.

Point of the story is, there are different perspectives for any situation. Lars thought the Stones (mainly Mick apparently) weren't very respectful. That doesn't neccessarily mean that the Stones meant any disrespect.
