I am interested in researching what the Stones as young men listened to. Muddy, Chuck, Howlin Wolf etc. And what they themselves listened to. For example what was Chuck listening to as a teenager. In a way a kind of family music tree. Just how far back can it go?

Also about the Dartford railway station meeting. What were the records under Mick,s arm? So far I have One Dozen Berrys and Best Of Muddy Waters. Thank you.

Chuck has a song about hitchiking to Chicago just to hear Muddy Waters play...So, we can assume that's one influence..I think you might be able to draw a line from Robert Johnson to Muddy Waters to Chuck Berry to the Rolling Stones and it would look pretty straight...Of course, it's not that simple..

Chuck Berry...well tigerman has most of his influences but
one of the BIG one's on Chuck was Louis Jordan...
esp in the comedy lyric style that came thru on many of Chucks songs

Jordan was always backed by big bands of great musicians
who played in a jazz/blues style but Jordan was pure entertainer
and the delivery of the songs were always in a slightly hokum kinda way..

Even the title of Jordan's songs give it away....
