to have expected the Stones to have played in several cities in the UK ... as opposed to giving us their only performances in London ?

I just wonder how I'd be feeling if I WASN'T a Londoner ?

i suppose the arguement would be, that the upcoming UK 2007 dates ,
are 'bonus' dates and we should be satisfied, and that we had our fair-share last August, with shows in Cardiff, Sheffield, Glasgow, and London.

How come they don't play Manchester? It's been a while no?

they use Old Trafford Cricket Ground (L.C.C.C) most summers for concerts.
Indeed, The Arctic Monkeys are playing there, this summer.
But Old Trafford Football Stadium is not used, no.

It's not surprising - considering most other countries also have gigs in one venue only. Spains's special, of course - because of last year's cancellation.
Anyway - England's quite a small country, geographically speaking. The distances are rather short and public transportation is very well developed. Trains! I firmly believe the three chows in the O2 arena will be very special. We all have something to look forward to in the O2. (And elsewhere!)

The 2007 tour is happening because they are doing shows they had to cancel last year. They did not cancel any shows in UK lst year. Some cities are lucky to get more shows, even if they visited last year. London and Paris. So in one way these two cities are double lucky...

It's not long I know. I have never been to Holland, but I would love to go there. I just don't have the time for it. I've been planning a trip to Dublin for a weekend for some time now though. Just to get the smell of Britain. Never been there. Never been off the European continent for that matter. Except for Mallorca.

correct. I consider it effectively a bonus as we didnt lose any shows last year, although in general the Stones tend to overlook the rest of the country outside London - a trend which will continue when they can charge the prices they are looking for London shows.

at £150 a ticket for nosebleeds and a shitty fan club allocation, they will seriously need to be.

I don't think the UK has had a good deal since the farwell '71 tour. 1990 was the last time they played more than two cities in England on a tour. London, Newcastle and Manchester. IMO, these are places that should be visited every tour. Other bands do.

I've never been to greater scandinavia (inc denmark), but it's high on the list! Most northern place I've been is Kiel, germany. Most southern is Kreta/Crete, most western is ehm, ehm... Baltimore, Ireland and most eastern is in Poland, don't remember the place... ehm Ustka! That's it...

I can beat that for a sucky travel resume Sluissie. The most northern I've been was 50 kilometres north of Lillehammer, Norway. The most southern I've been is Mallorca in Spain. The most western is Niort in France (Unless it's more to the east than Paris). The most eastern I've been to is Munich. How lame is that. I've enjoyed all the places, but you really can't say I get around that much.

Agree completely, it was the shitty fan club allocation that I found PARTICULARLY irksome ... it just went to show that these bloody "Legacy" codes turned out to be next to f***ing useless !

It's all relative I guess... There are many places here in the netherlands where they speak a dialect that can easily be taken for foreign, the surroundings look different than here in Delft and I've never been there... Would for me be exactly as interesting as about any other place in Europe/the western world... But for now the place i'm most interested in is the northern soccer-box on the field of the Stade de France...

Travelling aint just a matter of distance.
I have never put my foot on any other continent than Europe;
but I have been to most European countries and I have seen
the most various social environments on could imagine.
I have seen old Yugoslavia & former "East [cell] Block".
I have been to former DDR, Czechoslovakia, Hungary & the Soviet Union.
I have been much into my neighbor countries (well; not too much into
the innermost of Finland, I have to admit). Have been to all Mediterranean
countries, Alp countries, Ireland etc etc. Much of this thanks to
Interrail. I also wanna say this:
- You dont have to be a Dollar or a Dozen Tourist just because you go
by charter either... Leave the silly sun hat at home, enter the
shady streets (just watch yer wallet!)... Go for the Real deal!!
And as I use to say; the real Dublin aint at some culturally important
building nor at some stupid pub... Its right there inside McDonalds
on Grafton St. [photo.net] (or at any food store, or at the local train... ).
