Wasn't the Live Aid show played at JFK?

The USA part of Live Aid was at JFK

BTW, JFK was also the site of FDR's famed '4 Freedoms' speech.

The stadium had an interesting history, but the '78 Stones concert is notable only for a rare 1970s performance of Satisfaction, and for being one of the worst shows they ever played.

It was 78 so I guess it was 50% cotton and 50% polyester...
Had it been 72 it would have certainly been 100% cotton!

I apologize for bumping all those "dariog" threads, but when I looked at his posting history, and saw that in four years and over 100 posts he has never posted about anything other than jkf june 17 1978, my head exploded.

In the book "Old Gods Almost Dead" talks about the '78 tour outfit, dubbed as the "F train" look.
The book describes it as Mick's concept of cheap disco fashion, consisting of
Puerto Rican trousesrs,After Six dinner jackets, and Kangol cap.

Your ongoing obsession with 1978 is getting a little weird.

I don't recall objects thrown at Foreigner, they played a good set,I was right up front and when they sang " I'll leave you my key", the lead singer tossed hotel keys into the crowd. That was no doubt the WORST CROWD I'd ever been in at a Stones concert! Very, very drunk, very aggitated and the pushing kept up throughout the show, especialy when the Stones came on. When Mick sang Faraway Eyes" I was nearly killed! Really! Some nice kid actually held me up because I was being bent over and about to hit the ground! He saved me! A nasty day in my Stones history.

yes plus the stones set was a bit short compared to other 78 shows as far as running quickly through the numbers

Re: was foreniger pissed at jfk in 1978

I think the reason it was so short was that Mick was pretty ill--they almost considered cancelling the show. My buddy's brother went to this show and at the time it seemed so wild that someone was actually going to SEE the Rolling Stones. The fact that we were from NY and the show was in Philly only added to the mystique.

I thought that Peter Tosh was on the receiving end of the really shabby treatment from the fans.

Was this the only '78 show where they played Satisfaction?

No..they performed it in Chicago and San Francisco to. The philly version is a very good punk version.
