OK, just found on [www.lacandela.de] :

Am 18. August werden die “Rolling Stones der Sahara“ dann in Irland auf dem legendären Slane Castle zu sehen sein. In dem 80 000 Zuschauer fassenden Amphitheater standen bereits die Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Madonna und Robbie Williams auf der Bühne. Für das diesjährige Slane Concert wurden jetzt The Black Crowes , Guns N' Roses und Tinariwen als Support für die Rolling Stones bestätigt.

Meaning in Slane:

Tinariwen, Black Crowes and the Gunner left-overs will support! (no too bad!)

Um, next to the Stones, The Black Crowes are one of the best live bands out there. In fact, other than the Stones they are my favorite live band. If London gets the Crowes it will be an amazing show on all accounts. I know that Guns now adays is basically solo Axl and band but it's a decent show. You get to hear alot of classic rock anthems. Slane looks like it is shaping up to be a great show. Wish I could make it. I'll just be hitting the third O2 show. Let's hope the Crowes are there too. But with my luck, I'll get a shitty opener. I usually do when it comes to the Stones. I still can't remember the bands that played Twickenham last summer.

The Black Crowes are playing the Bostock Festival in Portland on the same date so i guess this is just a false rumor.

Saw them opening for the Stones in Bale 95 (my fisrt Stones show) and me (and the crowd) really didn't like them.

Let Primal Scream and Meters play O2. The legacy and funkyness continues...

I respect your opinion. I've never seen the Crowes in a support role. The shows I've seen have had them headlining. They normally do three hours. They also sell a CD of that night's show immediately afterwards so you can go home with a soundboard recording of what you just experienced. I love that. I normally hate jam bands but they really do it right. Plus they cover a lot of Stones songs. I've got versions of them doing "Happy" and "You Gotta Move." The Crowes at their best, pay homage to the Stones. I for one will never miss a Crowes show if they play in my area.

I would have loved to have seen them open for the Stones. I guess in '95 I got Kenny Wayne Shephard as an opener. He's a great guitarist, but he's no Crowes. I would say you got lucky in Bale. Sorry you didn't enjoy it.

How ironic. I just went on the Black Crowes site to see tour dates and the show that they are playing in my hometown(Hollywood), they have Kenny Wayne Shephard opening. It's a small world.

I can only agree! I saw them too and it was one of the most boring opening acts I ever saw!

Hysterical. I must be an idiot. I guess it takes all kinds. I always love a Black Crowes show. Whatever. We all have our preferences. To those that like the Crowes, enjoy it. To those that don't, have another pint outside. Either way, we got the Stones coming on stage so it's all good. See you at the third O2 show.

Hi Vilhelm!! Actually,I dreamed that the other nite, cos first I had a nitemare that we would have the horrible hives again. I prefer Hidden Gems, as I write all the music and sing all the songs! As long as we don't get the hives I'm happy! Black crowes are alright...

We alreday had the Hellacopters at Cirkus Stockholm 2003.
Best "special guests " they had must have been J Geils Band 81/82.

I like their records and I am really looking forward to see them this time opening for the Stones. I think they will do a lot better his time (and avoid 10 minutes of drumming solo)

I agree with you about the drum solo. Their drummer is great but it's hard to get excited about a 10 minute solo. Something tells me in an opening slot they would skip the drum solo. That is always my time to hit the bathroom and reload any frosty beverages that may be getting low.

Not sure officially. After Marc Ford left, they brought in Paul Stacey. No word on whether or not that was permanent.

Saw the Crowes in '94 or '95 (can't remember) as the supporting act for the stones in Basel/Switzerland. was quiet good performance, but nothing spectacular.

Keep on rollin'

Some support-acts of cancelled shows '06 are touring in Europe next summer: GNR, Motley Crue (Vince Neil says that they open for The Stones), Kasabian, Killers, Cramberies singer...

hoping to get GNR at one of my shows this summer; or, perhaps, more accurately, hoping to see the Axl Rose tribute to GNR this summer. saw 'em here in portland last year; an absolute treat!
