Yes it's quite unstable in the Ukraine, according to one of my relatives. (they live there) They're afraid to go out at night - and that comes into conflict with going to a concert at night - and not least - going home afterwards - or out for a few beers. It sort of takes the joy away when people are fearing for their lives. Moving the show to warzaw is a very good idea! And I suppose the young Piotr would be happy with such a decission.

BV - it is not newspaper that gave this information - it's internet news portal, which can be considered as quite serious. They wrote the official announcment might be TODAY during special press conference hold by possible polish concert promotor.
Rumoured venue is Sluzewiec Airport in Warsaw...

keep fingers crossed although I would feel sorry for Kiev anyway.

what they say is:

due to political situation Stones will play Poland instead of Kiev.

There are two possible dates: 25 or 29 July (more possible first one as second is day after St. Petersburg)

Rumoured venue: Warsaw, Sluzewiec Airport.

Well, the only importatnt stuff there is that they're supposed to play Sluzewiec horse race track in Warsaw instead if Kiev due to political situation in Ukraine.
It is supposed to happen on 25th of July. The announcement is expected today.

Sounds reasonable.

Good news travel fast although false ones even faster. But let's just wait for the press conference, and keep uor fingers crossed. If all the media are already talkin' about the gig, then it MUST be true.

I'm really happy about that but i know how Ukraine crew have to feel right now. Anyway Stones used to be band who wasn't affraid anything, any riots etc. Today they're bussines factory. Anyway i'm really happy but the shouldn't play i Warsaw but in Chorzów !!!

what ARE you talking about?!
contrary to popular opinion, the Stones have never demanded human sacrifices at their shows.
what they used to call "riots" were kids all excited by the music.

Out of your mind? The Ukraine's not even safe for the Ukraineans at the moment. People are afraid to go out. You don't seriously expect people to put their lives at stake to see the Stones in Kiyev? OK, I'm a dead serious fan - and my family's from the Ukraine - but would I go there? Not the way circumstances are now. And I'm happy if they're cancelling to play Poland in stead.

We still need to chop down all the trees in Europe - just to make sure...

TVN 24 (which is kind of CNN News or BBC News channel in Poland) reported today that the concert in Warsaw will take place 14th of July (!?).

It doesn't make sense. The Stones play Belgrade that night.

How many Polish Stones fans does it take to.....

Sounds like the right thing for the band to be doing at the moment.

It's interesting, however they probably got dates mixed up. It could be the 12th not 14th as they have a gap right there. However not at Sluzewiec as there is a George Michael concert on 11th.

Every Ukrainian I know says that this hysteria about "people being afraid to go out" you speak of is very inaccurate.

What with this and your statements about San Sebastian, you seem to be somewhat overexaggerating the risk of violence in these areas

there is however a major safety problem regarding the stadium in Kiev, which may be a factor in this show not takng place, not to mention that age-old issue of promoters not wanting to take the financial risk that is involved in putting the money together for a Stones show.

Thanks Gazza, the concert (promotor and other stuff) situation does not look too good in Kiev. I feel sorry for them but I hope we'll get a show, and not necesarily instead of Kiev. The news programs and websites seem to be juggling with different dates now (14th???, 25th??? who knows?)
