News: Jagger meeting with Starbucks.

Got this from ContactMusic (So I'm not sure how valid it is):

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JAGGER: 'STARBUCKS LABEL BOSSES CAME TO ME FIRST'

Ambitious bosses at coffee chain Starbucks approached SIR MICK JAGGER about signing to their new record label a year before announcing their first big name would be his one-time chart rival SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY. ROLLING STONE Jagger has revealed he met with Starbucks heads regarding a potential deal for his group - but the coffee bosses never got back to him. He says, "I actually met all the Starbucks people when I went to Seattle and you know we talked about it and they were very nice people. "They told me they were starting an actual label, but I never heard anything more about it." But Jagger has no hard feelings about MCCartney beating him to a place on the Hear Music label roster: "After a hundred years with EMI he has now signed up to Starbucks, so good luck to him." MCCartney has signed a one-album deal with the new label.

He was just having a coffee, I'm sure! Though I hate the company - the coffee's not so bad.

I remember that. That was awesome!

So Starbucks basically rejected the Stones? Ouch!

Ever notice how Mick never has a cross word in public for anyone? Not that he should in this case but he strikes me as a gentleman that way. Same with Charlie and Ron. Keith, on the other, seems to be more vocal about his opinions of others...

I know. I asked him for a five-letter word beginning with "th" for toss. He didn't help me one bit. How selfish.

Starbucks probably wouldn't release an album with songs containing yer basic "four letter words", which seem to be de rigueur on recent Stones albums. I think there was some talk of Starbucks carrying Springsteen's "Devils and Dust" album but they ultimately balked because of the songs "Long Time Comin", which has the 'f-word', and "Reno" which features an anal sex reference. Gotta keep up that clean corporate image ya know.

When they did the Pepsi tent show in 1998, Charlie said something at the time to the effect of "I think it's a bloody awful drink" referring to Pepsi.

He was certainly vocal regarding Mick when he accepted his Knighthood.

"I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon."

Didn't say anything about not liking your joke. Just offering a possible reason why Starbucks may not want to sign the Stones.

Mick's had plenty of not nice things to say, usually something catty (he's so feline), and at least somewhat witty or amusing - tho his occasional comments about Bill were curiously lacking in wit - too close to home, I suppose (i.e. "God, Bill's always moaning, he just moans...") and curious that Keith did not vent about Bill far as I can recall - curious in that it was those two who supposedly didn't speak for eight years or something.

The coffee's weak as s.hit - both in the UK and in the US. I avoid Starbucks whenever I'm in the US. I go to places that know the meaning of the word expresso - strong enough to wake the ghost of King Kong. Those who like big hits of caffeine should get into Cuban coffee or cafecito.

Needs more women.

Anyways, I remember certain people, when Macca announced his Starbucks thing, going "Yeah! See? Paul Sucks! Stones Rule! Yeeeaaaaa!" like bunch of soccer hooligans.

Meanwhile, yes, Rarities WAS sold in Starbucks (with different packaging than the retail store release here in Canada anyways). And now... here we are full circle.

Hey hooligans... I was right, you were wrong!

(I don't like to gloat but the recent lynching I've endured has only strengthened my determination...)
