Shortest time beetween announcement and tour??

Somebody remember?? No single gig (like paradiso ;-) ) - a tour.

I can't remeber a announcement since 1982 which was shorter than about 5 month!
Am I wrong??
So my doubts every day getting a little bit stronger....

Give back a little more trust to me if you remember better please !!!!!!!!!!

last summer was pretty short notice. in the end, several weeks of planning for the 2nd trip was all it took - and the cost (flights, etc.) were about the same. i spent months planning the first trip, which i took anyway, even without the stones.

Urban Jungle 1990. Announcement March 22nd, first show May 18th.
No Security 1999. Announcement mid November '98, first show January 25th.
ABB Fall leg 2006. Announcement July 25th, first show September 20th.

So, we're on tracks.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I seem to remember the Bridges to Babylon press conference was in August 1997, and then the tour as we know started in September.

That's right. The Bridges To Babylon tour was announced on August 18th 1997. First show September 23rd.

Back then when the tickets were all $65 or so, it was easy enough to announce a tour at short notice and fill stadiums. Its less practical now. In Europe, most major acts who are touring in any summer announce their plans at anything like 4-6 months notice. The Stones have traditionally done this in November-December since 1994, so as of now theyre almost 4 months later than their usual 'schedule'

Before 1998/99 internet wasn't that big like today. We got the informations from press, radio and TV and spended nights in front of ticket shops ;-)

I totally agree with Gazza: most times they gave us nice christmas presents - and we gave our christmas money...
And private situation: People have to plan their summer holidays month before (for family and for job). I'm in the lucky situation to take 1 or 2 days off from wife and work with announcing it 1 week before... most people aren't able to do so.

And as we all know: there are many big names on the road this year . If I only look to the festivals:
Germany: Rock am Ring, Belgium: Rock Werchter, Netherlands: Arrow Rock. Pink Pop. Every single one for me a can- (due to my geographical situation) and must-go = 500 EU. Only reason for me still haven't bought those tix: RS-announcement.

The people spended their money to Who, Aerosmith, Genesis, Police. And to be onest: RS aren't longer that special league above all others like in 70s, 80s, 90s (with years of pauses beetween tours). They are legends, ok; Spain, Eastern Countrys maybe are a special thing. But for middle europe like D, B, NL, F, and GB it will be a very hard fight to sell the tix.

Maybe we'd better prepare ourselve for some cancellations after announcement in May for June-dates...

I aim to please.
But at the same time, I don't make too many plans.
Will try to see the opening show, the London show(s), and shows in my region. Plus maybe something else if it can be arranged on short notice.
