Since 1969 they opened with only a selected group of songs: Jumpin'Jack Flash, Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women, Satisfaction, Let it rock, Under my thumb, Start me uo, Not fade away, Street fighting man, You got me rocking, It's only RnR.

Most of these songs are famous fast rockers based on a strong riff. I think that is the best way to get the crowd rocking. Everybody knows the songs, the audience will be grabbed by the scruff of the neck. No one will keep his bottom still when those riffs tear the sky apart.

I think from those songs the ones like Not Fade away, HTW and IORR are not strong enough to reach these effects.

On the other hand I think high energy songs like All down the line, She's so cold, Rocks off, Bitch and Live with me could easily fit into the opening spot.

Hope they mix the setlist up and do some of the warhorses throughout (instead of all at the end) for my European friends.

If you can't rock me would fit as new opener. Should be a song with really hard hitting riffs. Even a song from a bigger bang would be ok (Look what the cat, Oh no, not you...)

Paint It Black was long overdue for an opener until they did it a few times in the most recent leg. Personally, I think its an ideal choice

The song hasnt been played to death, everyone knows it, the intro is recognisable and works great as a 'taster' to the part where Charlie starts drumming, at which point every time that he hits those drums the place goes berserk.

Its the perfect opener IMO

Agree w/Gazza on this. I saw them open with PIB in Foxboro 2006 it was great. I think it would be even better if they mixed the drums more like Urban Jungle. Paint it Black from 7 of July was wild-Keith's intro then charlie's Boom boom boom drum.
