As Erik Snow mentioned - it was 30 years ago, the Stones played at the El Mocambo...

I was there. Hard to believe 30 years have passed.

When was the last time Stairway was even played? 1988?

Page/Plant never played it. Page never played it with the Black Crowes. They didn't play it at their RnR HOF induction. I'm thinking the last time any version of Zeppelin played Stairway was at the Atlantic Records 40th anniversary party in 1988. Page also played an instrumental version on his solo tour that year as well if I'm not mistaken.

Dolly Parton played it on her tour a few years ago however.

Rolf Harris may have played it on one of his tours.......

It was 1985 and Plant & Page did indeed play it - a 9.19 minute version to be precise! Their other two songs that day were Rock & Roll and Whole Lotta Love.

Now I remember it Manofwealthandtaste.............I was watching it on TV with a group of friends.....but please don't tell me Phil Collins was playing drums....I continue to believe that was just one of my many hallucinations that day.

In fact, Lukester, it was 'Plant, Page and Jones' and not Page and Plant as I previously mentioned, with Tony Thompson (of the Power Station) on drums. Your friend, Phil Collins, introduced the band and is also credited as 'guest drums'.

.....so it was a hallucination!!! However, I vaguely remember a helicopter and some sort of transAtlantic flight for the drummer....Phil Collins....but yeah, the Power Station guy makes more sense now...it was a blur

Stairway to Heaven was played live July 13,1985 at Live aid in Philadelphia and May 14,1988 at Atlantic's 40th at Madison Square Garden. Jimmy Page played an instrumental on his 1988 Outrider solo tour. I saw him in Philly at the Spectrum in Oct. and in Landover,Md in Nov. at the Capital center. These solos were far better than the previous two since he was on tour for a month already. Page and Plant also did an acoustic version Nov 10,1994 in Tokyo at the Tokyo news station and they played this up until Bonham's drum part comes in and then stopped.
