The thing I love especially about Charlie is that he does it all on whatever happens to be there. yes, nowadays he probably has only top of the line, but I get the feeling that he would play equally well on a piece of crap, rattling prehistoric drumkit. Same with Levon Helm.

Check out "Back in NYC" from The Lamb Lies Down.

Hmm... perhaps you're not a musician...

May say this about The Who.

Why the hostility? This kind of hate obviously springs from somewhere/someone else which Rush reminds you of. It can't be the band itself... unless you need some... counselling...

No, someone mentioned Meg White and Karen Carpenter.

Someone always forgotten is Roger Taylor of Queen. A real-live power drummer.

It's unbelievable that nobody knows that rocks greatest drummer is, without question The Rascal's Dino Danelli. Dino played with Lionell Hampton when he was 16. Noone else had the speed combined with the tastefulness. On records, he just played what the song called for but live he put on a SHOW! See for yourself-youtube "Young Rascals"- "Good Lovin'"[color picture] and "I've Been Lonely Too Long/ Come On Up". All live on the Sullivan show.

The world,s most remarkable drummer is Billy Cobham. Give Spectrum a listen. But my statement does not take anything away from any other drummer.

JaggerFan, allow me to respond to you

I am not a drummer who never made it and I am a musician. Well, I don't know how much musical talent I possess, but play a mean guitar every now and again.
My band was very successful in the Cleveland Ohio area for many years... we split as we got older and did the job/family thing but we still do the occasional gig when we feel like having fun. As a matter of fact we will be playing with The Queers in Akron Ohio in April.
As a band we released 3 albums, NEVER on our dime. I have gone on to work in radio and have played/promoted and lived/loved rock-n-roll all my life with very few regrets. I would say I have done more in the music business than most, and not as much as many BUT I am happy.

I do concede that I can’t be a drummer. No rhythm.

My hate for Rush is based on that fact that they are, as I said before, sexless, soulless and boring.

I like my rock-n-roll to make me want to dance and drink and get laid.
Rush have NEVER done that for me.

I have no real hostility, these are just on-line rants. Believe me I am relaxed as hell today. Stoned and hangin' out in my underwear while surfing the web and watching TV... its almost heaven. To bad EVERY day can't be like this smiling smiley

And JaggerFan, you are right about one thing...
I probably do need counseling, not because I hate a boring, turd of a band like Rush, but for many other reasons

RadioMarv

I do understand that RUSH is not everyone's cup of tea. You either love or hate them, few folks float in between. I've met Geddy Lee - great guy, and I'm Canadian, so this gives me at least 1 get-out-of jail card.

They're a different kind of band, a different kind of music. Not everyone's cup of tea for sure. But Neil Peart IS an exceptionally skilled drummer.

Funny, I think I hate REM for the same reasons you hate RUSH!

Bonzo was the best, the early dementia suddenly stroke me, who was the drummer in Jimi`s Experience? That man was so good, too

Keith John Moon and John Henry Bonham was the two best drummers.
Richard Starkey and Charlie Robert Watts are also good but underated

Bozo & Sören Berlev

I saw an interview with Townsend recently who criticized Moon for never being in time and I guess that made him a little difficult to play with, but I think it was his unique approach to drumming that kept the band spontaneious in concert.

When you hear Moon on a recording you know immediately who it is much like a BB King guitar lick ... I also just enjoyed his complete lunatic persona.
