Scandinavia is a historical and geographical region centered on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe and includes the three kingdoms of Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

The other Nordic countries Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands are sometimes included, because of their close historic and cultural relations to Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

Everybody seems to be talking about Scandinavia these days. Let them clowns keep on bichin' and the rest of us continue to discuss whether the Rolling Stones will be heading back for the US and especially the East Coast for more shows.MEZ

Oh yeah, sorry for making such big issue of something non-America related. So sorry.

Just for once. Manhattan, it's good to read a forum that is not US based/biased and has a varied, world-wide set of opinions - even on what is or is not a Scandanavian country...

The tour will be announced very soon. Next week or the week after I would guess. But I am not Michael Cohl you know. They want the media situation to be perfect.

I don´t think it is politics:

It´s the best way to guarantee the best attention of mass media that money can buy:

If they are going to tour only stadiums (a lot of tem) in Europe, success begins by getting the most attention you can at the press conference to get people hot for buying a ticket...

PR you know...

:-)

Maybe - but pretty much every Stones European tour press conference since 1990 has been pretty much a low key event (most of them have tended to be announced whilst still on their American tour). In some cases, its even just been a press release. Its certainly never the same big media event that it is when they traditionally announce a world tour in New York.

Looks like the opposite is more likely the case. BV has seemed out of the loop ever since Keith's injury a year ago (remember he was adamant that Keith was still in NZ while he had in fact returned to the US?). I could be wrong, but since then I can't recall getting any info of much relevance from this site in advance of official announcements.

8-9-10 days left to announcement according to Kent,
source is Gazza. Enough for me.
Guess they're waiting for the other dragon's tours to settle.

My 'source' was merely a guy at a travel company who has been advertising travel packages to Stones shows, who said a week ago that he expected an official announcement within 10-14 days. I cant claim thats a definitive 'authority' though but hopefully its a good sign - it would also tie in roughly with the time frame BV indicates above.

I've e-mailed a few other contacts too. If I get any indication, I'll certainly post it.

Positively wrong! There's plenty of great info on this site. This was actually the first site who brought on the news about the Europe 2007-tour. Back in August or early September. And BV has great sources within the Stones-camp.

What a bunch of crap...a "guy at a travel company?"...good grief

OK Keefstheman, you've criticised the guy who is trying to find out some information and who is honest enough to state exactly where it's come from, instead of hiding behind a pretence of knowing someone from the inner circle.

Perhaps you can do better here? Are you about to share a revelation from Keith's gardener, or Charlie's groom?

I've no information at all to offer about the tour, just a hope that it will happen. In the meantime it's good to hear from knowledgeable people like Gazza. If you've nothing to add to their attempts, how about adding nothing at all?

Hey, Mez, I like the Scandinavians. Pretty women, you know!

That said, I'll be happy to see the boys visit US again (after B. Bro sees 'em).

OSCAR does not dominate news in Europe. (but I highly doubt that people at RS.C0M know this)

I think Cohl waits for the US independence day for an Eurpean announcement <-;

Re: No 2007 tour update

There is not a big rush to announce this "little" Stones summer tour. That is why. They know they will sell out most tickets within a day, or a week at the most. And today is Oscar day all over the world so there is no space in the cultural press pages in Europe for an announcement, which normally is done on a Tuesday, if there is a press conference involved (can't see they will do an P.C. now).

FYI. Metallica are playing a few shows in Europe this summer, including the largest venue in Norway, Valle Hovin, capacity 40.000. They sold out 35.000 tickets in an hour today. Then they released the remaining 5.000 tickets and they were gone an hour later. Ticket price NOK 575 = USD 90 = EURO 80. So why should the Stones worry at all? The tickets will fly. That is for sure. Even if they charge double price vs. Metallica...

no way the stones will outsell Mettalica when they double their price and it's rubbish to think that all the tix will fly away, hasn't been that way in 2006
