INTRO Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) ?

Is the sound on the intro a keyboard or a guitar? What sort of effect is used here? It sounds a bit like the intro of Stevie Wonder's Superstition (btw what instrument/effect is used on that intro?)?

Synthesizer of some sort.That the word you're looking for Luke?

well....I guess I was looking for something a little more specific than "synthesizer of some sort." But if that's what it is, by golly, that's what it is. Thanks

That is the correct answer. Played by Billy Preston.

Is there an effect for guitar that simulates the clavinet? I know there is one. I hear some guitarplayer getting the same sound on the intro of Superstition with his guitar. Stupid not to ask the guy what for effect it was. Does anybody know it?

wait a minute mr rock and roll.......why would you assume Stevie Wonder has a guitar player simulating a clavinet?....that doesn't make sense.

Stevie Ray Vaughn does a mean "Superstition" on his guitar (well he did anyway). Keith plays a guitar syntesizer on "Memory Motel".

Didn't Stevie Wonder's Superstition have Jeff Beck on guitar?

In fact wasn't there some dispute as to whether Beck contributed to the writing of the tune--I seem to recall that.

If he did, he was uncredited(Checked the liner notes on my Talking Book LP).

The song was written for Jeff Beck and it's to be found on the Beck, Bogert, Appiece album

For 'that sound' check out Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Underfoot" with John Paul Jones intro and rythym all the way through.

"I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon."

This was discussed fairly recently. Check out [www.clavinet.com] for more info on that instrument.

the only thing i hear in the intro is a deep subliminal voice saying "don't listen to this crap! skip to the next song!"

Hohner Clavinet Model "D6"
Introduced in 1971. Woodgrain-applique with black tolex. This is arguably the most popular clavinet and "THE" model to have. Improvements over previous models include:

* Four tone switches for sound shaping
* Sliding mute lever
* AC power jack

Original equipment includes: grey tolex lid, plexiglass music stand, four metal legs, leg bag, tuning key (flat-head screwdriver), and a power cable.

* The optional "Foot Swell" pedal is nothing more than an in-line volume pedal which plugs into the 1/4" jack going to the amplifier.
