I love it, but since '02, Mick sings... "He's called the hit and run..." instead of "I'm called the hit and run..." which feels like PC gayness.

In every single concert i've seen, rambler alone was worth the price of the ticket!

Totally, I agree. It's the highlight of all 89.90 boots for sure.

... but WHY change it to "HE's called..."? And he even over-annunciates the word "he's" as if to say "Oh, no. I'm a Knight now. I'm not the Midnight Rambler. Greedo always shot first."

I dread it - the minute I see that harmonica I'm thinking great here's a wasted 12 minutes, and I briefly think about headin for the men's room like all the not-true fans do during Keef's set.

I'm a true fan. Ya gotta pee sometime. If he rocked Before they Make Me Run or L'il T&A I'd glady wee myself. But Slipping Away? This is me slipping to the john.

Back to the question though, someone said there is good video footage of Keith doing the chords on Four Flicks, though I haven't seen it.

Why don't you just learn it by ear yourself?

Some folks have a better ear for neat little chord inversions and other nuances than others.
Learning by ear not as easy for some as those blessed with a good ear assume it to be.

People learn how to do that by trying. winking smiley

Also, by learning how to learn parts bylistening you sharpen up so many other areas of playing and so on.

The absolute basics of the tune are Capo at 7th fret, using E, D and A shaped chords.

The rest will come by listening, playing, listening, playing, listening...

Grab yer guitar and have at it!!!

Slippin Away?? Man that is one of Keef's BEST! I was so glad to have finally gotten that at Twick #2!!! I've grown quite tired of Before They Make Me Run and Happy.

Happy, yes I'm tired of that too.
I'm not big on the live Slippin' Away w/o Mick coming in with "All I want is Ecstasy" (which is funny cause I thought Mick only did coke).

Live....this song is fantastic, as well as studio, but live, oh man...this song is one that makes you dance and sweat your ass off.

It's a type of song that brings emotion, the riffs are strong and corrupting....one of my all time songs to hear live.

That definitely ain't right.

Capo on 7th fret and use the chords B, B6, A, Asus2 and E - you will get there. Lots of other nice licks. I wish I could be bothered to tab it out but, as someone else said above, it's more about feel. Learn the basics, put in a few clever tricks and then pay it with feeling.

Agree with VoodooLounge regarding the lyrics, plus I find the whole "boogie, slow to a stop, return to boogie" tedious and way too long. They could do two better songs in the same time period.

I don't enjoy putting down songs, or things that others enjoy but what makes this site so good is that you can say whatever you feel, something that is unwise among friends if you want to have any. Its a healthy thing even if no-one agrees with you.
