No tickets required, but Grace Potter (June 18) and Mavis Staples (August 27) are playing free, outdoor, lunchtime concerts at Liberty Plaza in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. They have these shows every Thursday during the summer months. Usually, it's just local acts, but they always try to get at least a couple big names, too.

He is a man under my radar. Seems to be massive these days, played 2 Hyde Park concerts (British Summer Time festival) last year and tours around big stadiums in the U.K. this summer, Edinburgh, Liverpool and London x 2 as well as a large field in Belfast x 2.
Saw a cheap discount offer for the Murrayfield show on one of ‘seat filler’ websites, cost only £12.95 including fees, so immediately grabbed one out of curiosity without a second thought. Later I found the night of show day, June 14, clash with the Japan vs. the Netherlands match of FIFA World Cup. Ouch. But TBHWY I’m not holding my breath as regards our team’s luck…

[Edit/addition: On my way back. Absolutely brilliant. Am so impressed. So uplifting. Overall impression would be ‘Springsteen of alt country’ but frankly I find myself preferring Zach to the current Bruce. I wouldn’t hesitate to call this one of the greatest concerts I have ever witnessed in my life. I’m a fan now. As an added bonus, I have heard Japan drew with the Netherlands. Today is a good day!]
