thanks BrownEyedGirll - good to know i'm not hallucinating. :E
so the gig that shot was taken after was at the International Amphitheater, not Soldier Field.
Junior Wells played two numbers with the Barbarians that night - and someday i'll finally track the bootleg down,
i know i will.

LoFL - hovering around anxiously pining to be half that cool?
(it's Mick - but you can repost it here: [www.iorr.org])

Well, I have it somewhere! It's very bad audience quality, it sounds overloaded, but it is the show with Junior Wells.

The pictures of Willie Dixon bring back a cool memory.

Back in the early 80s when I was in my late teens and early 20s I was quite the blues fan and had a very short running blues radio show at the Univerity of Illinois in Chicago. There were only two shows before the station closed; the first one was with Eddy Clearwater and the second was with Koko Taylor.

At some point I was introduced to someone who offered to take me to Willie Dixon's house to see about him being a guest on the show. Boy, was I excited. I remember driving to the south side of Chicago - he lived just north and I think west of 79th and Racine. He and his family lived in a three flat (occupying all three floors) and there was a vacant lot next door that they used to grow vegatables. He also took us to his recording studio a few blocks away.

As great as the expereince was, I was a little disappointed because he didn't talk about music as much as politics. A that time he had recorded a single with the line "It don't make sense if it don't make peace" and he was proud to shun a visit to the White House because he disagreed with Reagan's "peace through strength" approach.

I wasn't sure if I should ask him for an autograph or not but then realized, this guy is a legend, ask him! So I did and he was happy to find a little 3"x4" black and white promo photo of him posing with Koko Taylor which he then signed. I still have it and when I see the photos on this thread and think of him as the one who wrote so many great songs and played bass on so many great Chuck Berry tunes I think of myself as being pretty lucky to have had the experience.

If only I could have given him the truth syrum to find out if Johnnie Johnson should have gotten credit for those Chuck Berry songs..........

This photo taken backstage in 1978 at the Quiet Knight in Chicago shows, from left, Muddy Waters, Shirley Dixon, Willie Dixon, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Ian McLagen, Terry Abrahamson and Charlie Watts.

1978? 1979? THIS ONE SAYS 1978.

I think Keith's hair looks the same in the group photos as it does in the 1978 on satge with Muddy shots.

I didn't know Willie was there too. Did both Willie and Muddy jam with the
stones at the same time? Too bad there is not a known recording...

There is a DVD called "Father & Sons" which has the recordings.
I used to have the 78 songs on a vinyl boot; it was Red and yellow, that is all I recall.

A few years back I downloaded from Napster a recording of 'Trouble No More' with Muddy and Mick Jagger together. Anybody know the details surrounding that recording? Are there other Stones on it?

Yeah Yeah Muddy....inopeng has summed it up pretty well...

Willie Dixon took the Stones down to the Quiet Knight club.
Story goes that Keith fell to his knees and kissed Muddy's
hand when they met.....

Have never seen a set list of the jam...No listings at all
in the Muddy Waters Complete Discography by Phil Wight/Fred Rothwell...

Do have photo/s somewhere of Mick with Lefty Dizz...think it was
even mentioned in Rolling Stone magazine at the time

Quiet Knight Club....Terry Abrahamson

Ronnie is playing the harmonica in the picture?

>> I meant, it's 1978 according to Bill Wyman,
it goes along fine with the setlists in that book. <<

yeah i know, but even Bill has some photos on the wrong pages.
i'm not insisting or anything - it just looks more like Barbarian Keith to me.
but then: it is the same cat, and not even a year difference,
so it's not strange that there'd be a resemblance. :E

- Chicago 1978 (don't know who took it, sorry!)

It looks like 1981, but could very well be 1979. It's not 1978, judging by Keith's hairdo etc.

To me it's it's 1978, judging by Keith's hairdo. In 81 he had a semi-pompadour. IN 78 his hair was flat.
And look at Charlie's : he has the same short haircut as the one he had on the "Miss You" vid. in 81 Cholie had longer hair.
