Next Producer of Next Stones Album?

O.k. Rick Rubin...... I'm throwing this out for the sinple fact that he produced Johnny Cash's last 5 albums, and he did produce Mick's 3rd solo album, which is his best, also he did Tom Petty's wallflower's , so what might a new Stone's album sound like if he were at the helm's? I think it would be interesting and I do think it is high time to get EVERYBODY out of the studio!! Bye Bye Chuck!! Bye back up singer's, just the boy's! anybody want to wiegh in on this it is just an idea to start conversation

There's not going to be another album. But Rick Rubin would have been perfect, if 'Wandering Spirit' didn't permanently sour him on working with them.

The results that everyone expects Rick Rubin to produce out of the Stones is basically what "A Bigger Bang" was: back to the basics...just the Stones; straightforward rock songs written by Mick and Keith TOGETHER; no overproduced songs.

My opinion is that Rick Rubin would've drained these same songs out of them. The only difference if Rick Rubin was behind ABB that he would've made it a tighter album and gotten rid of all the clunkers like "This Place Is Empty" "Rain Fall Down" "Biggest Mistake" and "Neocon." What would be left would be some strong songs and a tight album.

Maybe I can't give the boys credit but I feel ABB was almost pushing their creative juices to the edge already. Rick Rubin could probably squeeze a couple more original songs out of them but ABB might be the best we're gonna get. Which is fine by me, IMHO.

Justin,

I respectfully disagree with your position that the four songs you mentioned are "clunkers."

Jack White over Rick Rubin, but out of the two it's pretty close.
About Sweet Neocon: Not a bad song at all. The music is very good, but the lyrics aren't although I agree with them. Still the only "clunkers" on ABB is LMDS and BM.

Hmmmm...maybe I'm being taken for a ride here - but Jack Frost IS Bob Dylan IS Jack Frost ;-)
