Making a new "Still Life"

I'm thinking about putting together a Still Life double CD, with the best versions of all songs touched on the 81 tour. Maybe songs like Tops and Mona could be left out...or bonus tracks.
It's possible to do this now, after all the soundboard releases from Dogs&Cats and Empress Valley. I don't have all of them, though, but some of them. Quality varies...for instance New Orleans is a bit muffled, most of them are useable though.
So I wondered, if someone here has a good 81 bootleg selection...which sources each song should be taken from?
Here's 3 suggestions:

Let's Spend The Night Together (Seattle, Oct. 15th) (especially Jagger's singing about 2 minutes into the song, makes this the best LSTNT ever)
Shattered (New Orleans, December 5th)
Down The Road APiece (East Rutherford, November 5th)
She's So Cold (East Rutherford, November 5th)
Beast Of Burden (Tempe, Phoenix, December 13th)
Little T&A (Hampton Roads, December 18th)

You CAn't Always Get What You Want from Largo, MD 12/8/81 i believe

if you include '82 also put in Just My Imagination from Shattered in Europe Boot..
also:
Hampton's Shattered
any good version of Let it Bleed (try...I think its Hampton? not sure)
Little T&A from Phoenix
Black Limo from Shattered in Europe

The Beast of Burden, Waiting on a Friend, and Let it Bleed succession from Hampton is a great threesome...even the space in between songs.....

Maybe your "Still Life Again" should only have 82-versions on it? I know that there is very little material in good quality available, but in all fairness...smiling smiley

Tops from Philly would be awesome..Still Life 2 would be better with it.They did a great version of it on the first night of the tour.

Cedar Falls version of Let It Bleed is terrific, that's true.
Anyway, apart from T&A, I didn't want to include much from Hampton, because that's a finished and perfect concert, I play that concert anyway, it's more interesting to take the songs from other concerts.

>> apart from T&A, I didn't want to include much from Hampton <<

smile: you are very good to me, Erik!
there's a couple other T&A's where Keith did that sssoul that i'm named after,
and it might be that one of them will suit your disk as well or better than the Hampton one.
i'm kind of partial to the "JC fix that noise before i come over there" rendition,
but i'll have to check my 81 boots to see which one it is.
meanwhile this is such a great idea - thank you thank you for doing it!

The Hampton version of Shattered is the best I've heard from that tour, better than New Orleans IMO.

>>meanwhile this is such a great idea - thank you thank you for doing it<<

Yes it's a great idea, thanks, I wonder why I haven't heard about this idea from elsewhere. But there are still some shows I don't have, so I'll have to get those shows before doing it.

>>The Hampton version of Shattered is the best I've heard from that tour, better than New Orleans IMO.<<

Well that version is on also on Still Life, so it can't be used.

why dont you want tops? I guess could see leaving it out if there wasnt enough room on the cd and you needed the room for more essential tracks. But tops is tops!

Tops is great, maybe it should be included, but the 3 versions they did in 81 weren't "tops", they were ragged cool rockers, but wouldn't fit in on a "best of 81 collection". It's nearly there though...but not quite. I don't think there's any songs from September/early October 81 that will qualify actually...I like them "personally" though.

I've always been a fan of the Seattle '81 When The Whip Comes Down.(I don't recall if it's from the first or second night.)

Eh, I was hoping for some more response actually. So it's still a long way to go...
