I think Start Me Up and Brown Sugar had the best odds. It could have been I Go Wild, All Down The Line and some hundred other Stones tunes, but I would never have guessed Come Together.

All my guitars is 6-string in normal tuning,but have played things like Fortunate Son,Let Your Love Grow and Allright Now on the above-shown Telecaster as 5-string. For All Right Now the Tele were capoed in 2th fret.

Gibson SG Standard '67 Cherry (unfortunately swapped out the klusons for grovers twenty eight or so years ago so it is non-vintage)

1975'ish Tele with Gibson Humbucker in the rthm p/u (ripped from a beat up broken down 1970's les paul) and some sort of symour duncan JB in the bridge - always tuned to open-g

This is my 1975 Les Paul, leaning on my 10 watt Cornell Romany amp. I have a cheap acoustic and a Squier Tele, too.

aahhh, my dream guitar! I am thinking about this one for years. I only would replace all the gold parts with aged nickel, but this is a beautiful guitar. It's going to be this guitar, or a Zemaitis 24 fret metal top. My current main guitars are a Gibson Historic '59 Les Paul from 2004 with Seymour Duncan Antiquity's, a Fender Custom Shop Mary Kaye 1956 Stratocaster and a Japanese Fender Custom Shop '72 Telecaster with original '73 Wide Range Humbucker and a Seymour Duncan Antiquity in the bridge position. For amps a 12 watt Class A Miniplex head with 1973 Marshal 4*10" cabinet (the best for recording at home!), and a wicker cane Mesa/Boogie Mark IIB with reverb and EQ.

Nice collection!

The custom is the only guitar I own.

I never thought I'd get one as I think they cost way too much brand new, especially here in the UK! This one turned up on ebay 2nd hand for £1500, I had to have it!

I've been working on new project the past 2 weeks.
did the routing for a humbucker, then sanding.
stained the body with 2 waterbased dyes and finally put 4 coats of clear laquer on it.
Still got to get a nickel bridge and Kluson tuners.
the middle position, neck and bridge pickups together, sounds mighty fine.
the other 2 positions sound - hmm, so so. got try some different caps and pots maybe.

It's swamp ash, but quite heavy - unfortunately.

nice job on this one! What kind of pickups did you use?
Was it difficult to sand the body down? (machine or hand?)
What kind of lacquer did you use (I think the original nitrocellulose lacquer that Fender used in the early days is not available anymore (tho it's said to have an effect on the sound... well...)

Does it play as well as it looks ? ;-)

The Pickup on the bridge is a Seymoure Duncan.
either a STL-1 vintage '54 or a STL-1b, I'm not quite sure.

The Humbucker is a no name, which I picked up dirt cheap.
It sounds a bit too dark on it's own, but both PUs together - wow, mighty fine.
I'll be trading for a Rockinger Humbucker soon, and will give that a try.

I tried sanding with a small Delta wing machine, but that was useless.
Then I sanded it with a Block by hand - just don't count the hours and keep going.

I was asking for Nitrocellulose laquer in a rattle can at a few shops, but to no avail.
So I got acrylic laquer instead.
maybe that was my luck, because I was spraying in my kitchen, windows open, but I forgot about the small flame in the gas heating^^.
could have gone off with a bigger bang.
even the fumes of acrylic laquer are highly flameable - so, think first. doh

see Chelsea, I do it on the side not as a job.
The guitar is quite heavy, compared to my lite ash MIK and my mahogany Tele.
It's got a beefy neck and I still have to get used to it.
I'm still tweaking on it.

But yeah interestingly enough there seem to be huge weight differences
even within the same wood (swamp ash), I find that quite amazing.

The sanding down was quite some work then, puh (!) ;-)

One last question (if you don't mind), I suppose you used a pickguard
readymade for Teles with Humbucker in neck position?
Do you happen to know what it is with that "frame" that Keith has around his Humbucker? I know that these are used in Gibson Les Pauls but why does he use it on his tele? And does the pickguard has to be customized that way?

Well, there are two types of Humbucker frames - flat and angled (for the LesPaul arch top).
I have a frame but it's a) angled b) it wouldn't fit under the strings even if was flat.
I would suppose the neck of Keith's guitar comes up a bit more than mine, plus he has a thin one ply pickguard - mine is in 3 layers.
The frame is usefull for height-adjustments and to stabilize the bucker to stop it moving anywhere.
In my case the bucker fits into the pickguard pretty tight and I would rather lower the PU because its so damn hot.

Did some more work on the Partscaster and changed the color of the stain a bit.
rounded the edges
oil & wax finish, Kluson type tuners, 3 barrel vintage style bridge.






and as if I hadn't had enough guitars, I got a Squire Fat Tele off ebay - couldn't resist^^
