inclusive of 1983? I'd go with Pain of Love. if exclusive, mark me down for She Saw Me Coming.

Excellent choice re She Saw Me Coming. That and Baby Break It Down were
the runners up--it was kind of like a Miss America contest--lol

SSMC harkens back to a bygone era of Stones...okay, so I like the old daze better, so sue me.

LIS never did it for me, sad to say. Something missing in that song....can't quite put my finger on it - it seems to be building toward something that never happens....

Love Is Strong, to me has that classic Stones Groove, almost sinister, and I think the lyrics
are very good---"I'll follow you across the stars, I'll look for you in seedy bars"

yeah - and then the song hits a thud (for me) during the bridge and it never recovers....

So, I'm guessing I am not going to be able to change your vote.........

The bridge is, to me, the sinister part of the song.

not to mention that the basic outline of the song is a retread of Keith's
Wicked As it Seems, which is a much better tune, IMHFO.

at the risk of taking this thread down an unnecessary detour - isn't it illuminating that a song like this (it's okay - but just a formula CB rocker) could get mentioned as their best over the last 25 years? Tells you something about the lack of songwriting from the J-R team the last quarter-century, no?

That is the undeniable truth. But I never held Soul Survivor against It Must Be Hell. I think the statute of limitations expired by 1983.

I also think LIS is one of their best videos. Now, I would hate to think I am influenced by such things........

As for She Saw Me Coming--also great, great lyrics--I thought it should have been the single.

I hope the statute expired in '83, 'cos they dragged out that SS riff again in '89 with RockandaHardPlace.

surprising! Always sorta liked the tune, but didn't realize anyone thought THAT highly of it....a shame Chuckie couldn't convince Mick to pull it out at the Beacon - it's very interesting to imagine what this woulda/coulda sounded like on the stage....
