Lucinda Williams - live in Paradiso A'dam
Posted by: kees ()
Date: November 3, 2006 18:05

What a great gig I witnessed yesterday:
5 new songs from her not yet released album
2 Delta blues covers
the remainder a good mix from her othter albums
What a voice / what a guitarist!
Go and see her if you have the chance.

I was there too at the first of two shows at the Paradiso.
A just heard the great audience recoding from that show. She's so pure. Only the end of the show was a bit strange. It went out like a candle. During the encore she needed to discuss with the other bandmembers for at least two full minutes which song they will play to end the show. She pulled an other Delta blues song out of the head. A much weaker one than than the first blues song. I think she should end her she with one of her warhorses.
During the show she did ""What If" for the first time ever. A very strong song from her upcoming new album.

I saw her at the Fillmore in San Francisco on the 25th October and she was great. Raw, bear boned emotion and great songs. Her guitarist Dog Pettibone is phenominal. He plays economical, powerful, emotional solos and is someone to watch out for. See her if you can!

Is that from this week's show, or are you referring to older recordings?

I'm talking about last Wednesdays show Koen.
The upload on Dime is unfortunately not as good as the recording I'm listening to rightnow. When he's rating his recording a 9 (out of 10) I wonder what people will rate mine. Not that the available recording is bad, no not at all, but I'm a kind of critical when it's about recordings. Artists like Lucinda only deserves the best.

Is there a chance your recording will be on dime, euro'73?
Must be a really good recording!

I do my best to put mine on DIME.
I only need to find some time to make it ready for upload. It's the original tape I'm listening to. Hope to do it this weekend.

All right, I can't read that, but I love her too, no doubt! (Gotta love you Dutchies.)

Caught a show about a year and a half ago, and stood in a crowd about five people back from the stage.

I'll definitely not whine if we get that on Sunday. I read that Birmingham was the first UK show so far that had no curfew. Hope the Manchester one isnt cut short because of one, because she#s been known to play quite lengthy sets when she feels like it.

Gazza- i think the 'no curfew' in Birmingham, is something unique, to
that particular venue...pretty unusual these days.
I know that Sheps Bush has an 11pm curfew-
don't know about Bridgewater Hall.

it looks quite posh, so its probably about 9 !!

simple solution - come on stage earlier!

for 42 million quid,
it should be! :[en.wikipedia.org]

This is our equivalent - only cost £32 million and built the same year

Doesnt stage many 'rock' concerts though, maybe theyre afraid those crazy kids will slash the plush seats
