Stones Video Anthology

Hi all

I've seen several posts about potential DVD releases following the endless ABB tour. Personally as much as I enjoyed the Glasgow & Sheffield shows that I saw I don't really want to see another live DVD. 4 Flicks has cornered the market here as far as I'm concerned.

What I would really like to see is a definitive Video release. We had rewind in the UK in the mid-80's which had a few good cuts but nothing since.

An anthology of all Stones video work on DVD is something that is laking in my collection.

I appreciate that several companies own copyright to pre 1970 work but that period contains some vintage stuff: Jagger painted gold on JJF and a wonderful promo film for We Love You featuring Keith as a Judge in robes and a wig! I've only ever seen that one once.

Post 1970 I believe that the Stones own the copyright to their video work anyway so a release of this would be relatively easy.

40 licks was the first time that a definitive Stones CD had been released. Surely the agreement that must have been released with Klein/Abcko could be extended to promo films/videos?

Even a 1970 onwards release would be a start.

Anyone feel the same?

Brumstone,
I could NOT agree more! There are so many fantastic videos in the collection - and some puzzling ones as well (what's up with the bubbles in IORR?!), but some of the videos they've done over the years are superb: One Hit, Love Is Strong, Don't Stop. I would watch it over and over and over. BUT it would have to be a DEFINITIVE collection - every video ever released. If there are copyright issues with the pre-70 stuff then make it 1970 onward, but I would want every video done since then. For instance, I've still never seen the video for Almost Hear You Sigh, so for me, that would be a must. I definitely think that there is a market for this segment that has been lacking for so long.

Even some of the older videos could be re-released on DVD (25x5). There are lots of possibilities here.

I 100& agree.

Besides, Bowie did it in 2002, and he's been on a kabillion different labels.

I've seen Almost Hear You Sigh and it is a beautiful video to match a lovely song.

Keith plays one of those awesome accoustic guitars that he has, one of the hand made jobs. It's a lovely chestnut colour and you can see how much he just cherishes playing it and the love that he has for the guitar just shines through.

HalfNanker thanks for this: I figured that someone would have posted a similar thread before.

I like bootlegs but am I old fashioned in the desire to see an official release where some of the cash goes to the guys in the band whether they need it or not?
