Keith bust out with "Learning the Game"

Wow, Keith plays a Buddy Holly Song tonight. "Learning the Game"

Hearts that are broken & love that’s untrue
these go with learning the game
When you love her & she doesn’t love you
you’re only learning the game
When she says that you’re the only one she’ll ever love
then you find that you are not the one she’s thinking of
Feeling so sad and you’re all alone & blue
that’s when you’re learning the game

"Is it any wonder that we fuss and fight"

Here's Keith doing "Love is Strange" and "Learning the Game" from the Honeymoon Tapes - very short, but fun.

keith and ronnie both played guitar - it sounded like they've been playing it together for years! they obviously practiced it...

Great!
This song is one of my favourites on the Honeymoon Tapes.

drake, I've got the Honeymoon Tapes on CD with Keith doing this. Don't know how to electronically upload, but do know how to snail mail if you'd like. Maybe a trade for a Loisville boot?

Ablett,

I gather you were skeptical about the reports from Chicago. I was at that show and was stunned by how stiff, hunched, immobile, withdrawn, and pained he appeared. To me it truly was like seeing a stroke victim. Then yesterday I saw the video from Seattle on RS.com and it was clear that his Chicago appearance was an abberation - probably being the sum of arthritis and brutal cold and wind. Out of hope and respect, I decided not to post about his condition in Chicago at least until after reports from other shows. (That is not a slam on those who did post about him in Chicago.) Anyway, this KR fan is happy and relieved to see and read about him back on track...

Yes, rock on Keefy!

I've got the Honeymoon tapes (and the voodoo stew/brew outtakes disc 2 - all keith) so no need for any of that. I was making a request to hear the live version from that night, BUT THANK FOR THE OFFERS!!!

Drake, according to Charlotte on Rocks Off, there were several tapers in attendance....So, we wait...In my memory, it was a very solid version. Can't wait for the boot..

The live one from Austin is on Youtube.
Sorry I don't have the link.

It's a far away video of the screen but the audio is intact.

was talkin' to a friend a few minutes ago and we were discussing how the Stones seem to be more successful in bringing out cover songs like the Waylon and Buddy tunes than they are in reviving some of their older classics. I think one reason is that these cover songs aren't really compared to the original versions, so, in a sense, they can do no wrong. I also found it interesting that at the Licks theater shows, in many cases it was the R&B covers that seemed to hit the mark more often than the "rare" Stones songs. I could cite many examples, but I think most of you could do this for yourself.
