1981 Hampton and 1973 Brussels are the most moving; the fast version on Rock 'n' Roll Circus is also quite good.

Brussels 1973, Taylor was never better IMHO

any version from 1972/73 beats any version not from 1972/73. Very simple.

Rock n Roll Circuis plus the 72/73 versions are best. I quite like the ABB tour live version too - much better than Licks r other recent tours.

On which tour did they restore the bridge, and the uptempo ending section? Was it 1989 or later? I was glad they put those sections back in.

For earlier versions, I'm partial to the 1975 LA Forum renditions, with Ronnie's extended lead.

The Brussels version is the definitive one for the Taylor era, IMHO. That's the one in which Bobby Keys just about blows his lungs out LOL.

I heard a live boot version on the iTunes stones station once. It had to be early 70's cause Mick Taylor RIPPED IT THE @#$%& UP! It was the best solo I've ever heard, I would love to locate what this version is from and get it.

I'd say live '72, or both '72 and '73. Don't remember which individual performances that I liked the best, but definitely those years.

I vote for the 1972-1973 renditions with Taylor. The band was full tilt in this cycle. Heartfelt Mick and Keith vocals. Keyes wailing on sax. Taylor did some wonderful solo work here. The pacing perfect. Charlie, Bill and Keith laying down the rythym. I thought YCAGWYW was the showpiece on those tours from a musicianship standpoint.

I love the 72/73 versions when Bobby would take it over from Tay,or. Sometimes they did it w/o Bobby. BTW does anyone see a pattern to how they decided which version to play?

Brussels 73........But I have not heard everything from 72/73. Brussels 73 is perfection. Not just MT but the entire band.

BTW- is that Bobby Keyes or soemone else. I think the question came-up on another post but was never 100% answered..........

don't give me that ole one two, one two three four

Brussels 1973 is incandescent. Amazing to find this post...just a few hours ago, answering the post about the 'worst lead guitar solo of all times' I wrote;

"Perhaps the worst of the Stones' recorded output is found on that holy lament, You Can't Always Get What You Want on Love You Live. It begins with an interesting reading from Jagger...the band plays it restrained [aside from Billy Preston's idiotic piano ramblings]...then Ron Wood's guitar solo...and the entire spectacle takes on a pathetic hue. The carcass of the song slams to the ground...Ronnie drags it though the ground, cascading note after cascading note...and the longer the solo goes the worst it gets. It exposes him as completely uncreative as a soloist. Jagger puts a stake though the song's heart heart with a chorus sing-along. Jesus. Christ. Almighty."

When I compare the 1972/73 versions, or the 1975 L.A. Forum versions with the Love You Live version [from 1976] I can only ask...what the hell happened in so little time to the band? I mean, Ronnie was no Mick Taylor but he was really smoking his solos merely a year earlier [1975]! I guess drugs, excesses, and utter exhaustion is the answer. What a descent from the Olympian heights to the valley of muddled mediocrity!

Diamond rings, Vaseline, you gave me disease, well, I lost a lot of love over you.

The best live version of any stones song played during 1969 to 1973 compared to versions played after the Taylor era is with Mick Taylor in the band.Mick Jagger even admits that the stones during that period as a live band has not been touched since Mr Taylor left the band.

Ron Wood does not play single note solos so how can you even compare he plays octaves up and down the fretboard for the most part on YCAGWYW to fill up his
center stage and shining moment as a guitar solist.
