The Who
Robert Plant
Little Bobby Dylan
Jefferson Starship (Paul Kantner from the Airplane and a bunch of very talented sidemen playing vintage Airplane songs - very little Jeffeson Starship, thank God; Marty Balin was a member until recently and still joins in sometimes)
Paul Westerberg
Frank Black (altho his solo stuff has gone from great to ass-suckitude in the last several years, but as long as he still plays some Pixies tunes in concert ...)
Chuckster Berry
Little "Mascara" Richard
and many more I'm too drunk to think of right now

Well in the past year I have had the pleasure of cathcing David Gilmour and Robin Trower live, within a couple monthes of each other. One thing neither has lost is the ability to play great guitar, based in old blues style. Even Gilmour for all the supposed spaciness of Pink Floyd music, has a slow old bluesy style with his solos. Then I caught Trower for the first time and was blown away by his playing.

Hey us old white guys have to stick together.lol. Trower certainly has a different style then gilmour, but when he palys something like a little bit of sympathy,he squeezes that bluesy sound out of his guitar.

I would say ACDC, but Im not sure they are a working band anymore. I grew up on ACDC ever since my brother bought the Highway to hell single. That was back in the day when HMV was full of albums downstairs and full of 7 inches upstairs - and that was all. No DVDs , computer games or Ipods. ACDC were our band. I even got done for shoplifting the Aussie lp of Powerage cause it had rock n roll damnation on it. ACDC were there all through my life. I remember my gran threw my Fly on the wall ticket in the bin by mistake when she was cleaning my room, and I thought my world had ended. Fortunately I got another ticket at the last minute. I was 14 at the time. I buried my gran 3 weeks ago and I thought about that story. I never saw Bon, but me and my friends idolised him. I even flew from Glasgow to New York when they got inducted into the Hall of Fame. When Malcolm got out his limo I was quite close. I was draped in the Scotland flag. I yelled "hey Malcolm, welcome to Scotland". He chuckled and gave me the thumbs up. I'll always remember that. We loved their work ethic. I dont know what happened with ACDC. I dont think they will make another album. Im sick of false horizons. I'll keep my memories close to my heart, and will always get goosebumps when I hear the live intro to Whole Lotta Rosie.....but I'm not sure you can say they are "still around". Its fitting that the last shows they played were with the Stones. Im fortunate I love both bands, but to be an ACDC fan these last years has been hell. There are no interviews and no indications of future work. I wish em well. I'll miss em. I just wish they had bothered to tell us what they were thinking.

I am whiter than Jeff Beck and David Gilmour together, plus I can't play guitar. I hope this somehow settles the arguement.

What's Wilko up to these days?

Saw him once with Dr. Feelgood 30 years ago, when they toured the U.S. after "Malpractice."

"Stupidity" is one of the greatest live albums ever...

The first time I saw Blondie I was struck by the simularity of Gary Valentine's on-stage moves with those of Wilko. Years later I read that he started doing them after seeing a Dr. Feelgood show in New York.

Wilco's last album Red Hot Rocking Blues
was originally released in Japan back in
2003 then had UK release in 2005....It's
a fair run through of country and R&B covers
BUT the best is a stripped down rockin' version of Dylan's...From A Buick Six..

Fogerty
Creedence Revisited
Neil Young
Bruce Springsteen
Motley Crue

From first hand experience, these bands blow the roof off every night.

The Moody Blues might not be considered "hard rock" but for a professional band of the 60s/70s, they put on an awesome show too.

Enjoy.
